Request for more *quest versions of mobs

With the somewhat recent addition of all the newer quests there has been a dramatically increased ammount of people all going after a large number of named all over Dalaya. This has made alot of mobs that are almost always killed by farmers within a couple hours of spawning are now needed to progress these quests. Also it makes a situation where mobs that are low teir to mid teir raid bosses heavily camped by people trying to get the quest updates/drops. I personally do not raid in many if any at all any of the effected zones but I do feel sorry for some of the lower teir players who are effected the most. I remember how fun it was to kill Tarlisha back about 5 months ago when my guild was killing her and now shes required for 2 quests and on a lengthy timer which has made her completely locked down.

I think that if some *quest versions of these mobs (like you did with Mielech the Reanimated) were added to the game it would help this situation and also alleviate alot of the bottlenecking that is happening with these mobs. That way people who are after them for quests could get them done inbetween guilds killing the mob for their raids/groups. Maybe not as fast of a repop on the *version as fast as Meilech is (his *version repops about 10 min from killing him) so that there would still be scouting and waiting required.

Here is a list of some of the mobs I think could benefit from *versions:

Ancient Tarlisha Elthannar
Si`Thl`Li`Thara
Lasanth the Alchemist
The Eternal One
Advisor Garathor / Melwin the Malicious
Some of the mobs required to obtain the Jayla quest items

I like the idea. Another solution was requested for rotlord a few months ago was that killing mobs in the area would spawn a * version at a low chance. I would help alleviate the bottlenecks, but wouldn't remove them completely.

It's been said in the past shortly after the quests were released that parcelan was intentionally a bottleneck. The rest, I can't speak for. On the one hand, there are a couple of mobs listed there I wouldn't mind seeing turned into * mobs because I still need them, but there are several that I camped long and hard to catch up, one particular one /twice/ because the second quest was added later. It is the age old question.

I do think that if a solution were to exist, the factory code type answer to pop a * is the best. There'd have to be some time limit on the * version though, so you have to be the ones actively clearing for it and not just lucking upon it being up after someone else did the farming for exp or plat and left it up.

Im kinda for this change, but on the other hand i like how its not something anyone can just walk in and do.

A better solution is to just make all there drops no drop, end of farming.

I agree with some need for * mobs. However, I do not think every mob requires such.

Cash drop mobs: I totally agree for * versions. These mobs tend to be up a few hours at best, in my experience, before farmers kill them. I know with the vah assassinations this becomes extremely hazardous to making the attempts needed for things to go smoothly. The same applied to kills for earlier quests, such as the warrior Spear of the Great Hunt which required multiple cash drop nameds to die(Melwin, Eternal One, Lurking Terror. Fun times)

Parcelan: I'd say no, due to both it being intended as a bottleneck (first real bottleneck of the quest), and that it is killed only for low-end raid loot and quest drops. It is not a farming problem.

Tarlisha: Leaning towards yes, as I do not believe she was intended to be an extreme bottleneck for any individual one but instead is turning into one due to multiple quests using her for lore. Let's face it, one of the few creatures around with ties to the old world is pretty awesome. I guess quest designers feel the same. I always liked reading about Tarlisha and Highkeep.

I'm not sure if I'm going to change anything related to the vah quests, but I must say the idea of a factory code-spawned * named is an interesting one.

I find the * mobs annoying personally, especially low tier like our guild. We went for a few mobs in Stormkeep one day and both of them were *, so we had nothing to raid.. Maybe spawn one of each side by side? One with a * and one that's killable.. Happy medium always makes a good solution.

The * version spawns after the normal one with loot is killed. If anything * versions give players a way to complete the quest they are working on without camping the actual named and depriving you of the target (the SK * name are all for players on giant faction I think).

Parcelan is the only instance of this happening that concerns me. His loot was made no drop specifically to stop higher tiered players from farming him. Now a reason for players to kill him has been re-introduced and the loot is no drop so players on the extreme low end of raiding will have a tough time getting these loots. It also needs to be noted that there is no alternative target for brand new raid guilds to hit to get items like the haste neck or the 16 damage dagger.

If there was no * there would be nothing at all so you still would have nothing to raid. So I don't see your point.

I agree. Parcelean is a very import raid mob for up and coming guilds, notably for the haste neck and 16dmg dagger. Now, he is tracked for people doing the vah, and all his gear rots. A * version would allow for the people doing the Vah, and give lower tiered guilds a better chance at getting the real version.

Furthermore, the last two times I helped someone with Parcelean and the Vah quest, he didn't transform, the blades were handed back, and the quest got bugged. One example is here, and hasn't gotten any response:

Competition is one thing but it is hard to compete when people have the mob timer down to the minute. I'd like to see * versions or a more variety in the timer.

He's also killed fairly often for his clickies I might add. Root, fear, and healing.

I have to agree with this.

There is alot of bottle necks for quest right now. Between Vah, Deity Augs, Silver Crown Ect

Lots of them are always farmed for the gear to sell, and or use. Quite a few are always down, making it imposable to do the quests. I'm not going come home from work, and have to rush back. Saying I have to kill a rare spawn thats finally up.

Making them all no drop won't fix is all some of them are used for more than one quest making it even more.
