Relic: Til's Elemental Ward

It ADDS 250 mana to you mana pool. There are 2 or 3 other items in the GAME that do that. Honestly that makes it relic status. Sure its not as cool as your pet, but its a relic quality spell.

Well, sure it does but an ITEM doesnt take up a buff slot. If your int isn't capped then you can get a int potion which costs 5pp cost to make for 10 doses and get ~200 mana.

Why are relic spells even being compared to items?

A lvl 63 shaman can cast 60% haste. There are not many many, if any items out there that give 60% haste. Should this spell then be considered super-uber and become a relic? No. It's a nice spell, but not a relic spell.

High Priest's Bulwark.
Arcane Familiar.
Chaotic Visions.
Doomswarm.
Spirit of Kaezul.

Every class has a meh relic.

Thoughtshatter is pretty bad too--it's a situational timesaver you cast instead of chain drain, so it's handy, but it's so rarely useful that it's basically "+1 to winning on a tuesday if you're wearing a red shirt and it's raining outside". It's for raid encounters where the target has to be drained, it doesn't stack with itself so only one enchanter needs it, and it's useless on group mobs because they have a fat enough pool that they die before oom.

I'm of the belief that no relic should be 'meh'.

Agreeing with this, though I don't think a hundred points of stackable resists is meh.

Thoughtshatter is a 3k mana drain with a recast of 2 minutes that is basically free to cast.

Totally worthless.

Yes, I know what it does. However, this part:

is still valid. Not that I care enough about thoughtshatter that I want to make a big derail (I've had plenty of time to make a thread about it, after all), I'm just saying that it's nature as a mana dot and most grouped mobs' large pools make it irrelevant for them because they die before oom, and it doesn't stack with itself so it's only marginally useful for raids, and only then versus raid mobs with a mana pool.

edit: Oh, and single-group boss encounters, like Jontran, also get thoughtshattered. Still, if you're gonna have a B-list of relics, thoughtshatter has a seat reserved.

I think it's safe to say that the raiding mage community, for which this spell is reserved, does not want it in the relic line and feels that it does not warrent relic status. Could we get some feedback from the devs on if this can be moved out of the relic line?

It's the mage equivalent of High Priest's Bulwark -- not amazing useful, but a nice bonus.

High Priests Bulwark stacks with just about everything and has a nice bonus of FT on top of it.

Relic: Bladewind - great new nuke, noticable dps increase, mages rejoice
Relic: Storm of Elements - great target based AE, more rejoicing
Relic: Cupola of Incineration - highly useful in raiding/grouping situations - everybody loves the mage
Relic: Manifest Elements - Mages cry tears of joy and throw a party
Relic: Til's Elemental Ward - Mages blink, go check a few spell databases, scratch their heads, cast the spell, cry

Relic: Light of Eternity - best heal in the game.
Relic: Circle of Eternity - Raid wide heal? I need a change of pants.
Relic: Althuna's Remedy - Extremely efficient quick heal.
Relic: Gift of Aegolism - Best hp/ac buff in the game.
Relic: High Priest's Bulwark - 100 hp and 2 mana regen more than a level 59 spell. Spell mana regen is capped at 30. Spell mana regen of 30 is reachable with JB, WoN, and SB.

It's not an OMG!!!!one!!eleven!!! relic, but not many are. We already have a line of self-only FR/CR buffs. This is just an extension of the line with +mana added to it to sweeten the pot. Nothing wrong with the spell.

Be very thankful that 80% of your relics are jaw droppingly awesome. The last one is not terrible, it's simply "good."

Sure. No.

Something to remember when thinking about mages and mana regen or spell dps. We need to keep a balance with our pets. Mana free, and constant. Quite nice.
