Ranged Attackes && Skill Mods

If overcap Double Attack were just melee Crit or something instead that would make this so much easier...

Isn't that about the same thing?

Unless there is a chance to proc on the extra hit unlike double or triple attacks, over cap crit would actually be better then an extra hit, in exp groups (because of the ability to cripple) and about the same in raids. It would also be a bit better for mobs with a DS

Say in a perfect world you only hit for 100 and you never miss:

1% chance to get an extra hit over 100 hits would simply give you an extra 100 dmg since you would now have an average of 101 hits in the same time
1% crit would make one of the 100 hits 200 and even out to the same amount of total damage in the same amount of time as the 1% chance to get an extra hit would be

You are still bad at math kedrin.

Meeles attack up to 3 times per round per weapon, and only will get one extra attack per round for a sucessful double attack mod. That makes it a .33-.5% dps increase. 1% crit is a flat extra 1% damage as far as I know.

Regardless of all that though I dont see that much extra damage really changing anything, and it could just be .5% overcap crit per skill point to be more consistent.
 
It would be about the same on average (for archery), sure, but I'm thinking about in actual, single fights. An extra attack with archery, which itself can crit, provides a lot more potential burst/short-term DPS than just more crit.

That and extra attack would make Splitting Arrow tome a lot less special (rare crazy bursts were the intention there) and pretty much force us to make it provide double Backstab chance since that's just a small step further.

oh, Im dumb and didn't think about that. yeah then 1% chance of an extra hit is indeed better then 1% crit for sure.

I still feel that archery and melee would both benefit from a 1% extra hit in an equal way. Sure the archery would hit harder then the extra melee hit and on one fight in a exp group it would be more noticeable, however it would also happen less often.

Couldn't the same be said about Double Attack mod "stepping on the toes" of the rogue class tome then? Or +DMG on boots making Monks Force of body feel less special? We are just DPS classes that want to kill mobs as fast as we can.

rangers can melee too right?? i mean as it stand now it would work on ranger melee or am i missing something
