Ranged Attack Button

New to the game so can't add much to the conversation on dam/del, but someone mentioned an auto attack button on bows. I know on the live server you can /autofire, so I am guessing you cannot do that on SoD, which really sucks.

Correct and despite MANY tries to get this changed over the last 5 years, they have all been shot down so there is a very high chance that it will never happen.
 
Lol WTF are you talking about ? The bows end-game are scaled as the client limitations do not really affect archery. Look at the bow's delays. Like seriously who the fuck would want to press the hotkey button every .3 seconds ? you already see rangers whining they want an auto attack of some kind and it's only once every now and then.

That doesn't make any fucking sense and/or you need to play more

EDIT: And Ranger damage is JUST fine as it is. It scales off pretty nicely.

I'm convinced you can't read...not once did I suggest somehow making the hotkey button refresh every .3 seconds. Its impossible to make it do that (CLIENT LIMITATION, which is exactly what I'm getting at) Not once did I suggest an auto attack Archery button. Two shots per Hotkey press is NOT auto attack. True it might change the way rangers are played, but its not like you can tab out and keep pew pewing....


I'm suggesting that perhaps the Devs could rework archery the same way they did backstab so that RATIO of bows means something, rather than highest dmg/high delay. Obviously you're not going to give a crap since you're Mr. Uber Supertier ranger, but those of us below T5 or 6 can't really get our hands on a Starmetal bow.

I'm in a T3 guild, I just got my Swiftshot, but according to most people a Kedgemetal bow, even non pristine, will out dmg it. Kedgemetal drops in a lvl 65 dungeon, its buyable, it has a worse ratio, and worse stats. But Swiftshot reaches the delay floor with very little haste and there isn't any workaround in place to make it perform to its full potential.

Backstab has 100% haste for ALL daggers, so ratio is the only thing that matters, its an even playing field. Bows don't work the same way. Maybe they should.

They shoot the requests down with such ease and rapidity that it almost seems like the devs have an archery auto attack button.

Ngl, playing my Ranger and just having to spam press ranged attack is like being on vacation compared to what I have to do on my Sk or my Druid.
 
Is your ranged attack key in a more convenient location than your terror macro or big heal hotkey? How large of a keyboard do you have that this is an issue?

I played these 2 games for as long as I can remember ( me remembering every damn item in the game is a testament to my nerdness ) and having to ALT TAB press every .3 seconds with the keyboard bug would be totally retarded.

i know '' pressing ranged attack '' is a breeze when you are boxing right now but that's the problem. It's too much of a breeze it's just not fun.

But hey, you always have the option of not boxing !
 
I don't think this is necessarily a bad idea, but I would caution that no one actually KNOWS what the refresh delay on archery is - to my knowledge no one's tried to parse it and no dev has actually said what that time limit is.

I pulled out my Swiftshot and loaded the best haste i could get and just started wailing on the ranged attack button.. According to the parser and log the fastest it refreshed was a little over 1 second.. it didnt break it down to tenths of a second but id be willing to guesstiment that it clocked in at 1.1ish refresh time. With my worn haste and the spell on me it *should* have been faster.. so im going to assume by drawing conclusions from my unscientific experiment that the fastest its going to refresh is 1.1 seconds.

Hmmmm that seems about right. I had GoE and 34% worn haste on today and was timing the refresh, it seemed to pop every 1.5 seconds I'd say. Sucks pretty bad.

So, what is the issue. We now know that the button refreshes at least every 1.1 seconds which is less time than you and anyone else can achieve with their own haste ON TIER. Sounds to me like this is a non-issue. Like i said, it should have been dropped. Although, i did enjoy some of the entertaining comments.
 
Yet another piss poor piece of shit design decision from Woldaff. Do you even bother to bring this kind of shit up with the rest of us first? Why the hell even have a dev channel if you're just gonna put in whatever you want! I'm sick of this shit.

Ya know what I've had it. I don't even care if this is a joke or not. This isn't fun anymore. I'm sick of it all. I'm out. Been fun while it lasted SoD.
