Questions from a (hoperfully) new player!

*When I say hopefully, I mean I hope what I'm about to ask will work so I can play ;p*

1) I have Everquest: House of Thule edition. Will this work for SoD? Most likely not, but on the website it says "Any install dated after the Gates of Discord expansion (2004) will work!" Maybe I'm just not understanding that, though...

2) Whilst installing, I use AVG free, my AVG anti-virus software says there's something wrong with a file and either requires me to quarantine it or ignore the issue? Has anyone else had this problem? Or is just me?

3) Is the patcher supposed to come unzipped? I mean, I right click on it and I have no option to unzip it.

I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong thread / or these questions have already been asked and can be found somewhere, for I can't find them. : /

1) To my knowledge, House of Thule was released after Planes of Power, so should be good.

2) Ignore the issue. AVG is just suspicious vs some really old dll

3) The patcher comes unzipped. With its whooping size of 400 kb, why would anyone in his right mind try to zip that?

Directing it to C:\ProgramData\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest, now getting the error that it cannot locate my eqgame.exe. : / Thanks for the responses! :D

make sure you didnt patch to live after the installation, You should have to point your browser to your directory, click patch and run (make sure Use EQW is checked) point the EQW program to your eqgame.exe and wallaha. if you dont want to play in window's mode then from there you can uncheck it. IDK why but on my system i always have to use EQW once to point it to eqgame.exe. ALSO if you have multiple EQ installations make sure you're pointing it to the right one and make sure you dont try patching to live or any other eqemu's! Good luck, hope to see yah around!

I don't have multiple installations, and I do have EQW checked. But, sorry, what do you mean patch to live after the installation?

you have to point it at the specific file, eqgame.exe. it won't execute without the appropriate path so
C:\ProgramData\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest\eqgame.exe

Uhm, whoa. I found my eqgame.exe here: C:\ProgramData\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest\var\www\sod\patcher2\eq

And now it's patching? What happened to my other eqgame.exe? It doesn't seem to exist within the original folders.

thats a unix path. strange that that would copy into your file folder.
someone should check the patch zip. the other gets deleted. if you played
live again, it would recopy down from the soe patcher.

My sub time is over on live. : / And I can't renew until Friday. How else could I get my eqgame.exe back into the original files?

Sounds as if you want to play both live and sod. Your best bet is to copy the entire eq folder on to your hard drive. Rename the folder to something like eq2 or some such. Use the second copy to configure for sod and just leave the other one alone for live

Actually, I've stopped playing EQ live. I just let my sub run out and I've began to stop renewing it. Just want to play here, really.

if you are only playing here you don't need the other eqgame.exe. any other eqemu would have its own. you can just copy that version into your everquest directory and redirect the patcher there. that isnt the actual game file.

So copy + paste the eqgame.exe (from C:\ProgramData\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest\var\www\sod\patcher2\eq) into my C:\ProgramData\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest then try and run the patcher?

Wait a tick, this isn't the right file. Is it?

Because if it's not, (this is the only file I can find that's close to what I'm looking for) then I'm screwed and have no idea what to do next.

That is it. but you are running the SoD patcher to start the game right?

This thread is still applicable though the patcher screens will look different.
Starting SOD

I am taken here to this folder when I click patch and run (it's not giving me the error anymore?)
