In my mind, the crucial differnce in leveling now is the lowered zone exp modifiers, moreso than mob/dps tweaks. Granted, Seb used to be insanely good exp, but I'm not sure what is so negative about just plain good exp. Also, I agree with everything in Sp4mm's post. Moreover, if leveling and aa were as fast as they was before, the high end population could concentrate on quests and, more importantly, raids. These days, prime time boasts of maybe 12 - 18 high end ppl for raids, all from differnt guilds. The single reason no one logs on is the massive slow down in exp over the last few weeks (granted, some work has been done to rectify the situation). If you restore speedy leveling, they will come...
What is the downside to 30 min aa? More raid capable ppl, less grinding, less burn-out, more incentive to log on and level since you actually feel you are progressing, more willingness to level anywhere instead of the 1 or 2 zones that have optimal exp, and the bottome line is: more fun. Hell, even live finally came around with PoP. One of my good friends soloed one Saturday in Plane of Fire and got 18aa. That's fun. That would get people more excited about logging in. Grinding for 3 hours is *not* fun for 1 aa. I could solo Fungus Grove at 60 for that kinda AA exp on live. I ebayed because I got burned out having to sit in FG for 10 hours, then having to go camp 5 millions keys/medallions/idols/bane-weps/bullshit.
Wiz: the choice is this: do you want the content itself to be the challenge for the high-end game, or do you want time/grinding to be the challenge (or time-sink)??
Fact of the matter is that 5 high-end zones haven't even come close to being cleared. We should have 50 high-end players logging in all the time for the excitement of trying this unbeaten content, but we don't because of the slow-down. And even if they did login, thier gear/aa's are too shoddy to beat alot of the fights (well, maybe 50 could zerg it, but a more realistic 25-30 couldn't). Why? No one logs in. No one raids. Grinding = burnout.
I think if we took a poll, 99% of the server would vote for a serious speed-up. In fact, the sole reason I switched to WR was accelerated leveling. I felt like I was already twinked for the beginning, and had a blast soloing my way to mid-50s with Yvina. Then, a little sexy monk name Yvang was born, and I had even more fun inventing some very creative ways of powerleveling him (ie DS + AE GRAV FLUX!).
Anyway, not to beat a dead horse... quick leveling is the key to the server growth, fun, high-end raiding, everything imho.
