Project Grin - Community Adept Bots by Grinkles

I logged on the 30 cleric for a short time to check it out. I am super impressed with what you have done and thank you for it. He is pretty much naked, although you are right about him having good gear otherwise.
I leveled abjuration and med a bit before leaving, wanted to help out. I plan on logging him on again in the next few days to work on combat skills and such. I mostly play late so should be out of anyone's way.

Thanks so much for taking some time to up one of the Clerics' skills. Every little bit helps, especially with Abjuration, Alteration, and Meditate. All the Clerics had all slots taken up until recently, but I went through and deleted nearly everything because it was just bottom-end junk I had either bought from the Stormkeep armorer or collected during the exp grinds. As mentioned before, a friend has been kind (and masochistic) enough to have agreed to prepare a fully augged set of equipment for each Cleric. The augs, jewelry, and occasional Dalium you see on the Clerics at the moment is part of that ongoing project. Expect to see them fully decked out in the near future! :)

Had a somewhat busy past couple of days, but I hope to resume training up the 1-30 Enchanter fleet today. Grindstrom is 19 now, and she'll end up as the 25 Enchanter for The Spectral Hunter/The Wind Hag. After that, 26 and 30 are all that remain and I'll post their info on the front page of the thread. I'm not quite 100% sure how I'm going to address gear for them, but I'll figure it out when the time comes. But hey, even a mostly gearless Enchanter on an adept raid can be pretty valuable with the modest pet DPS and Breeze/Haste for all!

To any other adept hunters who may have been keeping an eye on this thread, remember that you don't always have to box in a Project Grin character yourself necessarily. Feel free to ask if a friend would like to fight alongside you, or simply call for a volunteer in OOC. Who doesn't love a good adept fight?

At long last, the Clerics are all suited up! The only loose end regarding crafted goods is that about half of them are missing doubly augged Dalium Shields, but that should be taken care of tonight. Grinkrista (1) is just barely shy of 1000 Mana, and Grinvinter (30) is floating up at over 2300 mana. I am confident these Clerics will meet the expectations of anyone who borrows them. Remember that if you feel like donating even as little as 10 minutes of your time toward this community project, pick a character from the list, log them in, and see about bumping up a casting skill or Meditate by a few points. Abjuration, Alteration, and Meditate are priorities, but Evocation also has its uses (e.g. Zealot's Strike and Undead bane nukes for Grikk, Angar, and The Spectral Hunter). If you're feeling especially generous, track down a light blue monster and whack at it for 10 mins or so to boost Dodge, Defense, Offense, and 1H Blunt, which are decidedly lacking on many of the Clerics.

Finally, Matbar deserves a major "thank you" here! She has been very generous with her time and hasn't complained once about all the clicking I've inflicted upon her over the past two weeks or so. She has even dipped substantially into her own personal stores in order to help bring these Clerics to fruition. So if you see this no-good Dwarf in game, feel free to drop her a line of thanks or simply a /cheer if you think of it. Our server is lucky to have someone this tireless and this dedicated among the playerbase. :)

On another note, I'm building up the final Enchanter of the 1-30 set these days. Expect to see their info added to the first post over the next week or so. Even if you might just like to use one as a Breeze/Clarity bot on occasion, go ahead; even unextended Breeze lasts over 2 hours these days.

Long overdue update! The Enchanter fleet is now suiting up. All their jewelcrafted needs have been taken care of by the ever-generous Matbar in the night, and the next step will be to get them a full lineup of augged Dalium Shields. (People tend to forget that Dalium and Ghostmetal shields are indeed usable by casters.) After that comes the arduous process of getting them mixed sets of doubly augged Hopper Hide / Cured Silk armor for optimal mana gain.

(For a preview of what's to come, take a gander at Grinaldoff's half-finished setup. 227 CHA ought to do a lot of good for an Enchanter at level 30!)

In other news, Tierilo has offered to spearhead the community Paladin project alongside me. He and I still have a very long way to go both with leveling the toons and with gearing them, but I just thought to mention the next class that's on the docket. Those nefarious undead Grikk and Angar are probably shaking in their boots! (Or they would, if they wore any.)

I'm wondering if from a playability standpoint, it may be easier to do SKs instead of paladin. At level 34 paladin get AE blind, but SKs get terror. For single target, I was just thinking that it is easier to chain cast terror than to learn how to use a blind/stun rotations. Just a thought.

the pallies hit so hard that with thier single blind they keep agro, nothing less then a super twinked out rogue would be able to steal agro, or a warrior since they have a lower level tanking agro advantage. pallies were chosen first since there are so many lower level undead adepts, and pallies can patch heal themselves.

Except the project, so far, stops with the level 30 adepts. So level 34 spells have no effect on the outcome here.

I agree that Shadowknight does have its appeal. However, aggro between the two classes is roughly even in the level range I'm currently working with. Paladins wielding beefy 2HS weapons (e.g.Giant Zweihander and especially Hunting Warscythe) shouldn't have any problems whatsoever keeping aggro even if the player neglects to use stuns and Taunt. If/when I get around to the higher tanks, I may well swap to Shadowknight or even Warrior, but that's a ways off. :)

The Enchanters are now live! Once their expable items are leveled some, every single Enchanter except the level 1 (Grinkmeats) should have 255 CHA, meaning resists won't be an issue. This also means that the level 12+ Enchanters can really on Charm spells for added fun and much better DPS contribution. Once again, Matbar has pulled through with massive crafting contributions toward the Enchanters' gear, including having fashioned over 400 augs along the way! If you see her in game, be sure to congratulate her on putting up with my slavedriving demands not once, but twice now.

Get the scoop on the new Enchanter fleet and everything else on the new Project Grin wiki page I made. I think this will be the best method for me to keep the community bot info up to date. I'm not sure what I'll do with the original post in this thread, but I'll get around to it sooner or later. If anyone has suggestions on how the page can be improved, let me know.

Now, on to the Paladins....

Now, on to the Paladins....

Tier and I brought a Paladin to Rust while I was exping with Ywom, and leveled up some sword a bunch. Tier knows more about what was happening, as I was nearly asleep and on autopilot pulling, healing, killing, repeating.

Thanks for helping! Adept loot takes an astonishing amount of exp to max out, so every little bit helps. :)

Poor Brancu never knew what hit him!

Congrats to Vladinova, Radenlo, and Davido on getting the loot they were hoping for. ;)

Another successful Haunted Treant run! At least one person got a Pristine Gladewood Amulet out of it, which makes it all the more satisfying. Two other people boxed in Grinvinter (30 CLR) and Grinoopy (26 CLR) while I covered Grinaldoff (30 ENC). It turns out a yellow con treant makes quite a good charm pet for this fight, though the main contributions to the fight came from the others you see pictured below.

Early on in the fight, snapped just as the Haunted Treant erupted in flames from someone's DD:

Near the end of the fight, our main tank Archatrix fell to his death despite the healers' best efforts to keep him afloat. However, Krive's pet and Ingaril stepped up to the plate and took the brunt of the Haunted Treant's assault for the rest of the fight:

Here's the group gloating over the corpse. It even looks like the poor busted Haunted Treant is about to facepalm in death! (Kayenna was camera shy and hid her face with her shield.)

One last serious picture before we parted ways:

Just another day on Project Grin...

(Needs more jpeg, I know!)

In other news, the 1-30 Paladins are coming along nicely, and I've even got a Warrior in the oven who's going to serve as a Tarx/Redmaw (max 36) ringer eventually. He takes damage like a sponge and should be able to solo Tarx if my calculations are correct, though Redmaw will still require conventional groupage. This'll be the first Project Grin toon above level 30.

Introducing Grinownk, a level 25 community Bard who specializes in taking down The Wind Hag! This mob drops one of the most sought-after Adept items for priests/casters, so I hope Grinownk will be of help. He has a number of things working in his favor for keeping the four difficult adds locked down during this fight:
  1. PBAE mez song
  2. Mandolin of Harmonious Melodies
  3. 250+ CHA
  4. 250 Focus/Mind specialization.
  5. 20% Neutral/Completely Evil alignment bonus under Sivyana.
  6. -10 resist adjust bonus for being Human.
  7. Enough MR to resist all spells in the fight, including stuns.
His info has been added to the Project Grin wiki article. I hope to see some Wind Hag loot in OOC in the coming weeks. :)

(And yes, Grinownk totally died to take the above pic. It was worth it just to see the look on that beautiful harpy's face!)

A 39 Cleric is now available for community use, complete with full augs and a beefy 20% spec bonus. While she's specifically designed as a Notus of the Wind specialist (hence the high MR), she should be able to pull her own weight on slightly higher adept fights, such as Snowskin or even Icefeather. 11 of her 13 pieces of [EXPABLE] gear still need leveling, so she will begin to shine even more once she has seen some use.

The wiki page has been updated. Be gentle with her! :)

Introducing Grinochah, a souped-up level 12 Shadowknight for community use. He boasts 25+ Dodge mod, nearly 255 AGI, Lord Jerzakt's shiny sword, and over 650 AC. Grinochah should be able to duo The Beetle Queen with any box partner, providing they're able to contribute at least some DPS to the fight. This character eliminates the need for people to move other community toons between The Mist Stalker and The Beetle Queen, which can otherwise be a pain.

Login info follows the usual scheme (communityshd12 / Grinkles), though the wiki won't reflect this character until I do a massive overhaul of the wiki page...

Paladins are (mostly) live at long last!

There are still a couple stray aug slots that I have to account for, but the Paladins are generally ready to take on their respective Adepts. The only major exception is the level 26 Paladin, who still needs some more attention before he's ready for public use.

The reason the Paladins took so long to release is because they kept getting clogged up at certain adepts during the leveling process. For instance, I couldn't level the future level 30 Paladin past level 20 until she got the legs from Brancu.

The wiki page has been updated and overhauled to reflect these new members of the Project Grin team. I'll likely fine-tune it in the coming days, but it should be easier to use than before.

Two shout-outs before I sign off:
  • A big "thank you" goes to tradeskill phenom Rora for unexpectedly swooping in these past few days and offering much-needed assistance in hammering out augs, especially the T5 variety (which I find the hardest to acquire myself).
  • Lastly, I'd also like to give a special thanks to Tierilo (a.k.a. Riule) for helping substantially with building these characters, particularly during the early stages when I was still finding my footing with the process of farming Adepts for their gear. If you see him in game, give him a high five! ;)
