Problems/Suggestions Runic Elemental Fusion

Finally finished this last night and had some problems.

Problem:

After first summoning had our bard JI it and it was level 59, 6 for Hit points and 9 for all resists, which worked out to ~45.5k hit points with companion health 8. After I refreshed his HP dropped by a ton, down to 13.9k hit points which is what my relic pet had. Had our bard JI him again and all his stats dropped, hit points went from a 6 to a 3. Thinking I did something wrong when refreshing I killed him and summoned a new one, had the same problems. Was he ninja nerfed or is there some problem with it summoning the relic pet instead of the runic?

Suggestions:

I didn't get a lot of data on his dps, only about 5 mobs before refreshing, but it didn't seem to change at all. Hit for about the same (Maybe a bit faster? Seemed like he had a small haste boost but I could be wrong, could have just been the fire form but it seemed faster even for that) and he had the same nuke as the relic pet, ~237 a cast. Thinking he's supposed to be the most bad ass pet around an increase in his dps would be nice. Would like to see a bigger nuke and/or and increase in his melee dps (Runic beast pet got about a 25% boost over relic, was thinking along that lines or something like adding a 5th attack to his normal 4).

And as a pipe dream since the beast pets got a look change maybe something for the Mage as well. Was thinking using the Thaz model and having the AA illusions turn them into the ones from the different wings.

Just a thought, any help/feedback would be nice.

I'm at work for another 5 hours but I'm really curious to. The big question I have now is if I need to be in an elemtental form prior to summoning my pet to give it an illusion/benefit am I stuck killing and resummoning my pet every refresh/zone?

It's an order of events thing... hopefully not, but I'm not sure if buffs are checked before the pet is 're-summoned' on zone (it's not quite a resummon, but it's close). I believe it does but not 100% sure on that.

Ok I think I have and idea of how this is supposed to work, while in fire/air/ice/earth form and the pet is summoned you create a runic version of that type (each one having independent stats/effects/bonuses) while no illusion creates a basic (relic?) one? Or is it more standardized and I'm thinking to much into it?

Ok I'm back w/data! So far I have noted the following:

1. You do have to be in an elemental form prior to summoning the pet for it to work correctly, or else it's just a normal relic pet.

2. Each form has different HP values:
-Earth 45.5k
-Fire 30k
-Air/Water 35.4k

3. Forms do not give any other benefits that I can notice. No DS or haste (fire), snare proc (earth), curse proc (air) or heal proc (water). There may be things like extra regen, ac or a slight overhaste that I can't notice.

4. Refreshing and zoning kills the runic and just makes him a relic pet. I figure since AA forms are illusions and can't go through zones there isn't anything for it to check for the "re-summon".

5. You CAN cast a new AA form once the pet is out and it gains the benefit like normal and keeps whatever bonus it has from the initial summon until you zone again.

So far this means that I will have to make a new pet before any engage to get the runic benefit and I see no reason to use any form other than earth when creating a new pet unless I want the snare when soloing.

Quick solutions I thought up:

1.Make AA forms perma like chanters so they can go through zones. extend their duration a bit so we can go through a refresh/PL time frame on one cast.

2. Make 4 seperate runic spells, one for each element and maybe give each one the innate bonus from the AA forms.

Just some thoughts, ideas/feedback always welcome.

Going to try and make the AA forms go through zoning. The pets also should have their individual procs.

I forsee many dead mages slain by city guards if this goes live, considering how welcome elementals are in citys. Just pointing out...

Yea that thought crossed my mind, but I couldn't really see any other (easy) way to use the mechanic for this and not have the illusions go through zoning. Kinda why I gave the idea for the 4 spells, it's a lot safer but not nearly as cool. It shouldn't be to bad though, other than gating from an exp group or raid most mages won't be in a form anyway. It will just be like rangers and wolf form, just gotta remember to click it off before you go near the guards.

Well the air pet does consistently proc Shiritris Favor, but whether it actually does anything I very much doubt. Certainly my nukes do NOT increase by 2% as a result of the proc.
I also agree that the damage done by the pet does not vary as a result of its form.

I never could understand why city guards were not worried by having an elemental (pet) in their midst but had to kill anyone with an elemental illusion.

Any solution which involved getting rid of current pet and recasting it in a different form is (in my opinion) a non starter.

And while we are on the subject of non functioning mage pet spells, does Talok's Taunting Echoes actually do anything. I certainly cannot tell any difference between cast and not cast.

The curse works for me, when raining 2 mobs the one with my pet on it consistently takes more damage than the off target. Could be something with the bonus fire/magic damage though.

I agree having to resummon a pet is bad in any form, but having 4 powerful pets that you can easily summon at any time rather than using an AA with a long cooldown then summoning the pet to get the same effect seems a bit easier to me, but to each his own. If the illusion is made to last through zoning it wouldn't be a big problem though , just /q and load back in, would save a lot of rebuffing and tons of pet weapons.

The taunting spell works, the way I noticed was when I box Brood Talons. Having the pet tank without and chain raining I would take agro every time, with the spell he holds it just fine.

Although I'm sure it was done so he can't use them, but any chance the pet could be bumped from level 59 to 60 so he can equip the cool weapons from Tur Ruj? :)

Or maybe have the level of the weapons dropped a bit?

They just lay there...rotting...taunting me...

Can elemental forms be made....not KOS? It really doesn't make sense for most illusions to be KOS to guards. Mage, necro, beastlord, shaman, enchanter, wizard, shadowknight, and druid all have pets that regularly roam the cities. Wouldn't they be a little tolerant having seen those every day?

Taloks works pretty well. I use it most of the time, no real reason not to seeing as you can dump pet aggro whenever you want instantly.

It used to be fine actually way back, it was changed, if I recall correctly for flavor reasons or something like that.

Zaela says awesome stuff here...

I really like those ideas. It would be really cool if mage pets across the board had more well defined roles like that. My 65 mage only has like 30 or 40 something AA's, but I honestly don't think he's used an earth pet (mostly because of the terrible root) since the mid 50's... Snare would make earth pets much more viable option (and eliminate the bad root aggro issues later on when they have a massive reach and the melee dps in a group don't have that reach capacity).

Anyway, who knows if any of this will actually go in. React!
My reaction is the idea rules and I could definitely see Water still getting raid use. As far as Earth pet re: raiding versatility I think if you could toggle the hate effect with pet taunt on/off and if it had some resists advantage or something it would be fine for those times when you were looking for more survivability but I am not a mage so........

pretty amazing, wish more mages could actually take advantage of it though. as it is, you're basically coding it for 1 person in the entire game

which--most importantly--will respond immediately when told to attack a target other than the one it is currently fighting.

Can you please please please please please please please code this into the game on pets that aren't the runic 2? Maybe a tome? Please?

Hope Zaela does't hate me for this but here's my two cents based on the descriptions given:

(Going on the HP values I stated earlier are still true for these)

And when reading these remember what it takes JUST TO GET the pet. There may be situations at lower tiers you can think of for the water pet but that's not the same game where we are at.

Earth Description: Pretty good as is, give him the snare over the root and call it a day.

Water Description: No...just no. I would never, ever give up my pet for a half hearted healer who I can't control for the following reason:

He's around 1/3 of my dps, no way I would give that up in any situation, even if he heals as good as any cleric in the game, it's why the game has clerics in the first place.

Remember these pets have to be prepared (Use AA and either summon a new pet, zone/refresh), if you go through the trouble of all the prep you could just get a real healer there. Also remember you can't change the 'core' pet quickly and if it's a bad enough situation where you may need to switch, by the time you cast the AA, zone and come back/resummon pet whatever it was that killed your healer in the first place has murdered your group and you by then. You can't use it when soloing cause if your kiting you either won't be getting hit or you can just have your pet tank it. Your not going to rely on a pet as your healer in a group (or god I hope not...) since you can get a real one or box one easily.

Which brings me to my next point, if it's a dedicated healer it cant attack anything. Which means not only do I loose my dps but I loose my body guard as well. If I or someone else gets agro on a random mob I can't send my pet to pick it up, he's just gonna sit there and try to heal when he could be getting agro, beating it down and saving the day. I can't take many hits so unless he has some super ultra mega fast casting big heal I would be red paste before he does any good.

So I propose this, give him a large HP regen and a slow.

I'm talking around 150-200hp a tick and around 30%(?) for the slow. Why? The regen would do something I've wanted since day 1 as a mage, lets him heal himself (slowly but still) so I only have to in emergencies. It won't be enough regen where he will be healing more than a given mob will dps him but it will keep him going and allow me to focus more on DPS and just med after a fight. Think of it as a constant, low end HoT. Right now I spend about 1/4 of any given fight (that doesn't involve constant group heals) and a few minutes after healing my pet cause parries/rips/etc.

The slow would be nice for solo, groups and raids. It's not enough where it would replace a beast/chanter/shaman/bard slow but for solo, groups without one of those 4 and as an initial slow in case of resists on a raid boss it's there or for adds.

Fire Description: I like the caster idea but going with the fire AA that focuses on the added attack speed I always felt that he was more of the melee dps of the 4. So I would take the one Zaela stated for fire and move that over to the air pet. For this guy I would give him the most melee dps out of the 4 (15-20% more? need to make it worth wild at least) and make him level 60 (assuming the others are still 59) so he can use the best pet weapons around. :) (In case you haven't noticed I have a thing for pet weapons)

Air Description: As stated above given the AA form with the caster curse I always felt air was the caster of the bunch and would just use the description given for fire.

So that's my feelings, at least for these I can see each one being used in a lot of situations.

So thoughts, tweaks, comments. (bolts a lighting from devs *ducks*)
