Pets don't use armor properly and other wierdness...

are pets supposed to gain hps from STA buffs?

add..
Pets buffs reapply themselves after zoning correct?
noticing today, my buffed pet drops to 85% after each zone

The Zoneing hp drop thing bugs me personaly. From what it looks like what ever extra hps a pet (at least a shamans pet) gains from buffs it loses when its zones (doesn't lose the buff just the extra hps so after zoning it now iis damaged). A quick heal fixes this.. but its just annoying specialy if you have to keep zoning (traveling) after 2-3 zones your pet can be sitting at 50% health do to constantly haveing the Buff hps being minus off its hps.

I've found that having a higher damage weapon on a pet does infact increase the damage they do. With my level 9 SK pet using a his fists he was doing about 6-8 damage, but when I gave him a 2h battleaxe he was doing 12-18ish, all while attacking at the same rate he was barehanded. Moral of the story from this isolated test? Give them a high damage slow weapon if you can.

That's why most people do main hand Bastard Sword, off hand Halberd. (yes, they can equip a 2her as their 2nd weapon)

Tested this a shitload today. Initial tests were with a wide variety of items on ring / wrist / hat slots, but after I was confident of those I just started using deepmetal to check the other slots.

Note that items which work appear to work completely--including AC, HP, resists, and stats. Stats appear to function properly--str gives atk, for example.

The following slots work correctly:
Arms
Wrist
Chest
Hat
Boots
Gloves
Pants

The following slots do not work at all:
Earring
Ring
Range
Shoulder
Belt
Mask
Cloak

An interesting note: Multislot non-weapon items do not work, even when both slots normally would work. Note however that wrists work despite being multislot (the game treats it as 'left wrist, right wrist').

The following (worn) effects work correctly:
Worn attack of all kinds.

The following (worn) effects do not work:
Haste of all kinds.
Worn regeneration of all kinds.
Worn damage shields.

Note that for spells like Aura of Battle, the attack is applied while the regen is not.

The following procs work:
Weapon

The following procs do not work:
Chest
Shield

So, do the mage summoned haste rings work for pets? You have ear and ring not working on this list.

The haste rings doubly don't work: first because they're rings, and second because haste items don't work on them at all. If the pet is given, say, haste arms, the pet gets the stats from the arms but is not effected by the haste.

well I guess I can stop wasting time putting haste ring on my pet for now then. I had a related question, if you put armor on a pet and it then gets a racial illusion, will it be seen wearing the armor you gave it? What if you give it to them after it gets illusion?

I should add that the stuff I posted isn't all bugs. There would be no sense in coding a way for pets to wear any kind of item when there are so few items they can use. I just wanted to compile the information we had. Fixing the issues with pet worn spells in general would probably be a good idea, but if that doesn't work, then haste specifically should certainly get a look. The rest (bash procs, chest procs, etc) is more or less trivial.

No in both cases.

does the armor stay with the pet after zoning/logging?

edit

how about aug'd items with searfire?

and will they get to use no drop items?

Armor stays after zoning/logging. Pets never use nodrop items. Testing searfire now, stay tuned.

edit: Damage Increment focus effects do not work, and since searfire is a focus, I'm betting searfire won't work either. I'm not 100% certain yet, though.

I parsed 103 procs and got 0 crits. While not *completely* conclusive, it's fair to say that Searfire probably doesn't work.

oh yeah it doesn't. Tried that a millionty years ago on aisling. At least not outright as a focus. While I'm doubting its possible, there have been some other weird bugs, so there is the possibility that it might work once one gets the crit aa's for a pet. But again, highly highly doubtful.

Also if one puts in 2 weapons with seperate procs (done back when one could give the lavawhatever the heck they're called weapons to pets) the 2nd proc never goes off as far as I'm aware. Haven't tested this at all recently due to not really wanting to spend the $ on a proc throwaway weapon for a pet.
