Order of class needs in high end encounters

I just wanted opinion of those that play in WR. Basically the importance is the class you could never have enough of on high end encounters.

Cleric
Wizard
Druid
Rogue
Ranger
Warrior
Magician
Monk
Necromancer
Bard
Beastmaster
Shaman
Enchanter
Shadowknight
Paladin

Carnigo Coconut
65 Halfing Paladin
<Phoenix Rising>

I don't know about WR but on live as paladins got better they got soo useful at keeping groups alive on big AEing mobs, wouldn't really put them last.

Ideally my perfect raid would have something like..

1 Warrior
1 Backup Warrior
3 Chain Clerics
6 Patch healers / cleric / druid / shm etc.
2 Debuffers / shm / ench etc.
2 Pullers
8 DPS (at least one wiz, mag and nec)
3 Offtanks (pal / sk)
1 Bard :p

If you had any concept of raiding mechanics you too would laugh at how retarded this thread is.

funny how well Melwins post fits into a retarded thread :finger:

You can consider that the last time you post a snide remark reply to a GM, especially considering you've done it in the past. And before you yell up about me doing the same thing: No, I didn't. It is not my job to explain why posts that are both utterly uninformed and discouraging players from playing certain classes are retarded, merely that they are.

Your posting priviliges have been suspended for a week.

Well, he wasn't laying out what classes are the best, or laying out how many he needed, just said what classes you couldn't have enough of. Although it's much easier just to say that you don't need more than 6 clerics, or more than 3 warriors, or more than this, or more than that. You get the back bone down with the CH rotation (some fights vary naturally), make sure that if lag takes over you have one tank to switch, and then after that, it's just dps. So hell, you get enough Paladin's, say 100 +, and they're awesome damage (when compared to one rogue, naturally).

As I recall from eqlive, the most important thing you NEED on a raid is a wizard or druid to tank.

Then the rangers can set up a chain heal on the wizard, and after that it all pretty much takes care of itself.

We generally used druid tanks, with mage pets as pullers, but there are lots of fun variations.

 Willaena! I keep complaining about the lack of tanks at lower levels, and I just never considered that option. Next time I play with a wizard or mage I will have them 'practice' being the tank for the high end encounters.

That's actually a pretty good call. A ranger with about 500 AA's can heal amazingly, and a druid with 500 AA's can tank like it's his business. Screw warriors, clerics, and rogues.

Are you serious, I need to play Live again - I know my enchanter tanked better than most wizards.

LOL

Yeah, definately not how it works on WR. I would love to see a druid tank, or a wizard last two rounds on a level 68 mob :(

Or a mage pet pull, lol, suicide.

The reason why we need salmon text for sarcasm. :)

Nonsense, Mage pets make very efficient pullers.

Many times we have let the mage pet pull.

"now taunting attacker master"
"uh oh . . . INCOMING"

then all the critters show up, and we go dancing. It can be a lot of fun.

The only thing that ever got close to Lil Flamey for sheer pullin fun was a hyperactive iksar monk played by, we think, a teenager with ADD.

But that is a very different rant

Gotta love Nazi's on the rag

We dislike posts like this, that just throw out "X class is no good" without any supporting argument, because it gets people's overactive imaginations going and convinces them there are balance problems where there really aren't.

See: Lokdar and Beastlords.
