Olaf! Berserker!

"Would you like be making #$%# BERSERRRRKERRRR!"

@Sheck - True dat....TSR was the biggest PnP whores around. Yay! I get new updated monsters! With um...no demons...or devils...errr...what? Oh and then later on when sales started slipping they brought them back but renamed them. Soooo lame.

Earthdawn > D&D

Would you rather him start a new thread on the same topic, so then someone can say "A thread has already been posted about this at such-n-such."

I don't know ...

Because I don't ever ever ever ever ever ever want to see a player named MurrMurr PawKatt again.

Lol Wiz!

I still think "Meowzaa Purrsalot" is just SOO much worse. :emo: :censored: I truely hated live when morons started this kind of crap.

Good christ I think I should just put this on copy/paste so I stop having to type it out.

The Vah Shir were, imo, more interesting lore-wise than the frogloks, and certainly had enough to be worthwhile. Frogs were Generic Good Guys, cats were the only neutral race and had that whole tribal / fuedal blend going on that was pretty interesting to see in action. It's sad that idiots caused them to be taken out, but the "they have gimmick names" argument doesn't hold any water--the guy who would name his vah shir something gay won't suddenly become a naming god when he clicks froglok instead. You'll just get another kermit.

That said, if Wiz doesn't want vah shir, we won't get vah shir, end of story. It might be out of some weird holdover rage against the furries banging down our door (?), it might be because lore wise they don't fit, it might be because of the phases of the goddamn moon. It doesn't matter. If you want them, post in Sug/Req about it or whatever. Do it like "hey how about adding vah shir to spice things up! we've been good about names the past month (note: wait until this has actually occured) let us have a new race to play with!", not like "WAAAH WAAAH I WANT VAH SHIR WAAAAH".

edit: Put another way, complaining about the lack of Vah Shir is like complaining about the name of Newport or any other non-balance stylistic issue.

The naming argument holds lots of water. Maybe a fifth of the frogloks were named stupid names like Kermit. 95% of the Vah Shir were.

Right, but my point was that idiots dumb enough to pick shitty names won't think to themselves "oh, no vah shir, I'll take my business elsewhere". They'll just pick a different race. Vah shir with dumb names is a symptom of a different problem--the dumb people who pick those dumb names.

Not really. It's more like:

-> Pick a Race -> Hmm, Vah Shir look cool... -> Hey, I'm a cat... -> Hee hee hee, hee hee hee... -> PURRPURR TIGRIS IS MADE

Even people that would normally pick an okay name with another race suddenly think they're comedy jesus if they make a vah shir.

Well in either case its shitheads getting the pool closed for everyone, sad to see it go because of dumb people, etc etc

I look forward to the day vah shir discussions stop / they become so compressed they can be accomplished entirely with acronyms.

edit \/\/\/ I bet you're in favor of gun control, too :p

Wiz is actually spot on about it. I know someone playing EQ2 that has used normal names the entire time I've known them(about 3 years now), yet because he's a kerra, he has cat in his name.

I personally think vah shir were flawed in that they didnt encompass all the looks of the thundercats!

mmm snarf snarf

If the the primary reason behind disallowing them was naming issues, perhaps it would be possible to code vah shir to only be created with random generated names?
