NEW MOP THREAD

This dude HAS to be having some issues with his graphics. That being said I did finally eat a death in there last night, and it was the only time I've ever run through with a pet up. I didn't think I was really getting very close to anything or really doing anything any different than before/after, but it was tossing me all over the place before I finally got eaten (and not all in one incident, although I may have used up my three touches on the initial bounce around, but I recovered two different times and kept going, but I'd just get tossed again). I've gone since a couple times with no problems, but I haven't tried it again yet with the pet up. Maybe that experience was similar to what everyone that has been freaking out is getting?

Spoiler alert..

hit the white glowing thing on the floor then..

I dont see any white glowing things on the floor.
Although I usually make it through alive mostly I always get a red message or two without
seeing any of the 4 armed beings near.
All in all its annoying, especially when boxxing its more time consuming.
It certainly made me play less, when thinking about moving 2 chars through it I often log off
or dont even start to play.
I'd rather had the old MoP back, occasionaly dieing wasnt a big deal, toss 50p at the healer and
try again, now its time consuming EVERY time I have to use it.

Well I thought I would have another try with a level 1 character.

I made 20 attempts to get thru the Mop and achieved 5 success when I got the illusion and 15 deaths to Mobs I never saw.

Now you are just flat out lying to everyone. I tested running a level 1 cleric through the MoP before the little glowing things were even talked about. I never aggroed once. I literally ran to the Underhill portal and back around to Athica without aggro. I thought maybe something was wrong, so I ran right into a mob to test aggro, at which point he pwned me. Obviously Bridger knows his argument has been proven pointless and his posts are just a poor attempt to save face.

Seriously though the changes are so minuscule, why are you quitting over it? Is this akin to a hunger strike? You know those never work out. All you are doing is showing the devs that their hard work is unappreciated, which is totally not true.

That would also imply Bridger has 15 corpses cluttering up the MoP. Somewhat verifyable, and easily done, but I'm lazy.

I have not died yet, but sometimes I see the colored wisps on the ground, and sometimes I don't. Go figure. Nvidia card.

Yeah, the wisps are very inconsistent and a terrible model in general. Half the time the model loads, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes the human model loads in its place. Though this is the only zone where I have an issue with wisps loading properly.

I have no problem with wisps loading. And if you avoid the grass in the first part of the MoP, you avoid almost all of them.
I have seen the white glow as early as the first doorway, before you even get to the pool. (Basically right at the start.) I have seen that glow both with a nvidia card, and with a radeon card.

I have linked below a couple of screenshots in an attempt to demonstrate my problem(s).

You will notice that despite the assurances that you would need to aggro every Mob in the zone, my Level zero toon has taken aggro from the very first Mob it encountered.

In the first shot, I have the illusion, and wisps are clearly visible.
In the second shot the illusion has worn off and wisps can no longer be seen.
These affects are 100% consistent for me.

I will happily accompany anyone into the MoP to demonstrate the aggro affect.
What I can/cannot see is a little more difficult. I guess you would have to come round and look over my shoulder - which you are welcome to do.

What I see in these screenshots:

1) You managed to aggro the 1st mob, and got a wall of red text that warns you that it might be a good idea not to run into more mobs.
2) With an illusion that gives you vision better then erudite/human, you can see things in a dark zone.
3) As an erudite, you are blind as a bat and can't see shit.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but aggroing the 1st mob didn't do you any bad, if you manage to avoid more mobs you will be fine. Since you as an erudite are blind as a bat, wich makes it impossible for you to see things, you should get a random buff that improves your vision, see things, avoid em and happily dance through the MoP ever after (while avoiding things ofc!).

Yeah you failed at avoiding the mob so you shouldn't get agroed? I don't get this point, you still need to agro like 4 or 5 more before you are actually killed.......

Yes, the red message means you aggroed the mob. However, you did not die to it immediately as you have been constantly claiming in this thread. Looking at the screencaps I can see that aside from your lack of infravision, your MoP experience is just like everyone else's. It's not the devs fault you picked a race that cant see two feet in front of you at night. Maybe you purposely picked a race that can't see in an attempt to plead your case, I don't know, but again your experience is just like mine so I don't know what you are complaining about.

just change wolve's bane to wolfsbane i hope this change does not cause any more people to quit

Yes you are WRONG

What you see is the character losing 10 hit points (ie 50% of his health).
If the knock back pushes you into a second Mob (as it frequently does) then that is death. A far cry from assurances that you could aggro every Mob on the way to Athica and survive.

If a Humam/Erudite Mage cannot expect to get thru the MoP until he reaches Level 16 (first vision spell) then the MoP is even more stupid than I imagined.

So I tried the MoP run on a non blind character and I must say it was LOTS and LOTS easier. But I was still dieing occasionally to Mobs I could not or did not see.
I will repeat the exercise on my L65 and let you know.

But even if the fail rate was as low as one in a thousand MoP runs I would still consider this "cure" as being worse than the original "disease".

OK made repeated runs thru the MoP with my L65 Mage. Once I had a vision buff so I could see the Mobs, I had zero deaths.

I must say that I thought the ludicrous "Blind as a Bat" attribute of Humans/Erudites had been abolished as it did not appear on the new racial attributes list. On reflection I suppose it had to remain so that ultra/infra vision actually does something.

So what do I know think of the MoP (if anyone cares)?
Well I still think the changes are utterly pointless. If they do not kill anyone they may as well not be there. And if they do they introduce randomness that the changes were intended to remove.
The non aggro for low level toons does not work.
The huge disadvantage that low level Humans/Erudites appear to have is bonkers - Am I missing something here?

But is it a game breaker for me? I must (sheepishly) admit not.
