I've had a few people on postfarm as well as in game ask me where they should hunt. Getting to level 14 is fairly easy, so I'll just take it from around there. This is a quick, dirty, and fast way to exp. But it's not going to be something the vast majority of you will be able to accomplish as the zones are pretty hard, but give a huge exp. bonus and have tons of mobs to kill.

Miel A - 12 - 34. Until you get to level 22, you should stay up top more'ish, and at 22 you can venture further in. There are a few named spawns that drop some decent low end weapons, including a decent blunt weapon for priests. Easy to get to, lots of mobs, and until you move down further I don't believe there are that many clerics / priests that are annoying to kill. After you get to about 22, you can move down further which has all sorts of nice goodies that drop. Be warned, stay away from the room with the magicians...not much fun unless you're a bunch of level 30's, and even then it's going to be tough. Not worth the fight. There are ways to get around it. At level 30 you'll want to pretty much push the zone limits, exploring all the way to Miel B entrance. Don't go in though, expecting it to be a nice cross over. The Disciples will destroy your whole group.

Paw - 34 - 46: Paw is a great out of the way 'ish zone but it's worth it. I know I got a few drops there but mainly it was just wicked zone exp. and lots of mobs. I'd say from 34 to about 39 you should just stick to the front end mobs, unless you have a pretty good party. Then you should push past the first set of doors and perhaps tackle the lion's den (you drop down from the bridge, watch out, about two will attack and there are a bunch more waiting). The den can get messy but once you learn it it's just easy exp. Keep exploring the zone, pushing further and further in the higher you get. At around 40 you should be almost in the basement area, but watch out, it gets tricky, even at 47. I suggest leaving at 46 though as after that a lot of the mobs go light blue and by then you will have lost your exp. bonus.

Miel B - 46 - 54: The Disciples should now be easy and you'll want to camp items as well, provided you have the force. Be warned, there are a few traps but once you learn the zone it's easy exp. Stay away from the Miel A > Miel B zone line with all the knight's and priest's around. They take far too long to kill and thus net you bad exp. for the time. The Disciple entrance is the best, and there's even a named if you make a left instead of a right (the right to the beatles).

Dragon Necropolis - 54 - 65: I don't know about you, but I have a hard on for DN. You get the armour, you get the fun, and definitely the excitement. Siren's Grotto is also a good interchangable place between DN (WW entrance). And they're reasonably close together if you can get levitate. I mean either or will take you to 65 in a decent group or even duo situation. The exp. will be much much slower but these are just safer zones (to a degree).

A quick and dirty guide involving only three zones...definitely not for those who wish to explore and take their time leveling, doing quests, and understanding the lore. I don't pretend to be that kind of player and as such I highly recommend these zones for these levels. In a good group dynamic you could hit 65 in under three weeks.

Nice Rambler thanks. This guide at all soloable? I rolled up an Iksar Monk. Been away from EQ officially for years, unofficially I came back for a few months for LDoN and dropped 30 levels on an Ikky monk in 4 weeks. Think I can solo Meil A (wherever the hell that is =) ) or is your guide really geared to grouping?

I know how to play the monk but I wont be twinked and most likely have trash all for gear.

thanks in advance for your advice.

Cheers

I Would avoid doing mielech a from 12 , itll kill off the new exp bonus , and by the time your 30 from grouping there you could already be in the exp penalty.

Just do warrens from 12 and then mielech from 20+.

Thanks Lotox. Warrens over Newport Sewers? I heard it was good loot in newport for a noob such as myself?

Keeping in mind I am absolutely untwinked. I know nothing about Dalaya and have a big learning curve infront of me =) XP is king but I find (at least with classic EQ) that I need at least some armor and weapons.

I went monk on my first char here due to 'feign' and the fact that their natural AC and unarmed was strong. It'll keep me from having to upgrade weaps every 5 levels. I am skilled with a monk. (Well pre 50 monk anyways). But prior to 20 it'll be a bit of a battle I think =)

Thanks for the advice.

54 - 65 the beastlord mobs in spirit valley are good, and you can wander into akheva when you get a great group going 60+

I kind of power leveled my Shaman in these zones, but I found them to be completely amazing as far as exp. versus time versus reward versus effort.

I'm not sure how the new penalty works to be completely honest, but I've never hunted in the Warrens so I couldn't tell you if it was good or not.

Fungus Grove was pretty sweet when I was in there, but I have no idea of the level range. It's pretty easy to get to.

You cannot solo these zones, don't even bother trying. Unless you mean two boxing, in which case it's possible but I suggest doing other areas as these are high density mob zones.

Rambler,
I have read you old leveling guide and it was informative but some of the zones are no longer in the game. I am wondering if you are anyone else has any ideas for two boxer in the low, mid and high 50's. The exp is much slower two boxing but if my wife yells for me I can easily get away at my leisure and having powerleveled on live several times I am trying my hardest to go slow here and enjoy myelf.

Arif 54 Shaman
Xrok 55 Monk Venerate

Just to throw an alternative set of zones out there:

12 - Low 20s: Warrens
Low 20s through Low or mid 30s: Either First Ruins or MielechA
Mid 30s through 40s: Paw, KaladimA, or Yaralith
Mid 40s through 50s: MielB or Seru (Sseru sucks, btw) or Yaralith (sewers are great money on the 40s, not stellar xp though.
50s through 60ish: Dragon Necropolis, Freeport, Siren's Grotto, Deepshade, Sorcerer's Labyrinth
55+ or 60+: Akheva, Eldenal's, Spirit Valley, MielechC, Everchill.

There are a bunch of other zones I haven't checked out but want to. Those are just a few thoughts.

Refer often to The informative Zone Connection Map:
http://209.172.32.20/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3199

The numbers aren't perfect, but they're a pretty good indicator of where you might be able to hunt.

As for warrens exp it is good , however the other factor with warrens is that YOU COULD essentially Carry over to bancak if you were a diehard powerleveler.

Lotox, those are good suggestions but a lot of those zones fall short of being "good" zones to exp. in. Definitely places to go if you get bored with earning good exp. though.

Suggestions are always good though, and it's nice when they get written down. A lot of people even with the very informative zone guide map want first hand knowledge or "take" of a zone before they go off adventuring there.

I remember back in the day I saw Kaladim on the zone connections map as level 30 +. We spent about 20 minutes getting there, bound outside, ventured in, and got destroyed by red conning mobs in a second. Upsetting? Yes. A week later the zone was actually changed to what it currently is (28 + type thing). Long story short, the more knowledge you have about a zone, the better. The zones I've listed are ones I found to be quite good, but definitely not for the duo or solo person, or well duo in the sense that it will take quite a bit longer and be quite risky.

On the flip side, though, a zone with 10 or 15% less ZEM is going to look pretty good compared to a zone where you get a -25% old zone xp penalty =) If you're in MielA from 12 to the mid 30s, you're going to get hit pretty hard on the xp penalty. ANY zone would give better xp with a 25% or even a 10% new experience bonus (even with on ZEM) than a 30% ZEM with -25% old zone penalty.

my sk went from 24 to 32 in Miel A in a day =D lol... wonder if that had something to do with the presence of a level 65 druid...
investigation pending :)

I got Kambing 55 in two days. These zones are absolutely disgusting for power leveling. So I just kind of applied this across the board to a really nice group.

And yes, with the new penalties this won't work as well. Damn Wiz and making people explore content instead of just grinding their sins away.

I got my Paladin to 45 with these zones. (Mostly geared towards soloing and undead)

1-13 Newbie Area

13-20 Shrouded Isle
Start in the frontyard and kill everything you see. Around 16 you can start moving closer to the backyard killing Jack-o Lantern's and Ghouls by the time you hit 18 you'll be able to kill the Spectral Canine's pretty easily and can think about pulling from the backdoor of the house. Aswell The experiance really starts to slow down at about 20 so I moved over to the Warrens. (You can also get extra XP by turning items into the NPC just outside of the zone.)

20-25 Warrens
I started off by going to the left killing Kobold Sentry's and kept moving back into the cave as I leveled killing everything that conned blue until reaching the Throne room / Tamed bear room. Most Kobolds don't provide much experiance at 25 so it's time to move on.

25-29 MielA
I was mostly grouped with 2-3 other people, we killed Clerics and Solldiers just down the ladder. It's also possible to solo these guys (Lull pulling) but it can be a bit difficult with the roamers. Watch out for the froglok magicians that sometimes roam into the center room just left of the ladder room. These guys are around level 28 and can take out a small group quickly.

29-32 First Ruins
Stayed up top near the zone line Lull pulling Ratmen / Clanrats / Warlocks. Watch out the Warlocks burn for about 180 points. So make sure you have Stun ready.

32-40 King's Pass
Stayed near the zone line where the "injured newport guard" is. Lull pulling Kings Pass Citizen's / Guards. from the first two camps and the roamer. If you accidentally end up pulling more than one or a fight goes bad it's easy to run to the guard. If your a Paladin make sure you have the undead proc symbol on at all times.

40-45 First Ruins
Went down to the undead area where the building is, while soloing I would kill everything around the lake, the roamer, and the guy just outside the building. and as I leveled started taking out the first four spawns in the inside of the house. As you progrssivly get further in most areas have too many roamers so it's better to either group with 1-2 other people or stay outside.

Good luck.

Dragon Necropolis - 54 - 65

Ouch

I wouldn't reccoment DN to anyone of any level for exp aside from maybe once to explore it, it's not a real dungeon and wont teach you any group skills, the exp is also awful.

For a group around level 54 i'd mix and match the following area's on different days:

Red sun mines (the lesser fire elemental / imp area)
Lasanth
Sorcerers Lab (lower dogs - castle area)
Mielc
Cmal (door on the right, cmal 1)

Actually the rat city in DN is pretty outstanding xp even for a solo lvl 65, sure you can prolly find something a little better but in reality that area is so incredibly easy and rewards you with incredible amounts of xp.

Yeah, rats in DN are pretty solid XP. They're easy for their level, and the xp mod there isn't too terrible. You wind up with very fast, low risk kills. They're probably ideal for early 60s, as with 4 level 65s and a 62, not particularly high DPS, we cleared the entire rat city with enough time to go kill two bone dragons before repops. Still, though, the XP is pretty decent, as are the drops.

Don't forget about Tunnels of Lasanth from 50-60. 30% xp modifier and the mobs up to the minotaurs can be handled by a duo. Xp is insanely fast when you have a full group there constantly pulling.
