Means of Travel

damn boat bugs... tricky little buggers they are =P

i personally enjoy the way the travel system is... reminds of Live Prekunark times, when you have to run everywhere for everything and pay out the a-hole for a port. I think you should be glad they have at least a few ports and some cool clickies.

boat bug?

Not so much of a bug to report, really, but I must say that my short gnome paladin can't reach the boat from the dock landing. (Specifically, this happened this morning in Freeport while boarding (I think) White Albatross to Newport.) While I did eventually get on board by hopping onto one of the dock support pillars on the left edge of the dock, then pulling myself on board, it would be nice not to have to do it - my poor gnomish coordination landed me in the water a few times.

wow such a thread i have started :D perhaps someone with skill (not i) could take a gander at the zone connection maps in the sticky threads and maybe update them? i was in grobb lookin for the dark portalist and had no luck, but its nice to know there was a reason for it now and not my stupidity (well it didn't play a "direct roll" in it)

I am just back from a long time off and wanted to try and clear up the travel in game. what are those four direct ports wiz was talking about besides the NB to haven?

Dark Portalists.

Youch guys.

The dark Portalists were my link to my vendor in Newport, and now... they're... gone....

I'm sure there was a resonable reason to justify this removal, and i'm not here to argue that. Mainly because i know arguing with wiz goes no where, but w/e.

I'm actually just curious about 2 things. One, being newport faction, and being able to raise it from kos. I was one of the unlucky few who did grobb port neck in that short period of time when the factions were horrendous to newport.

Secondly, I'm wondering to all you gm's, if i could have a faction fix for plage survivors. The guys in the plaguelands tunnels. Cause one day my friends and id ecided to raid enwport sewars, and "cleanse the evil". The factions we attained from the mummy guards etc were negative with plague survivors... or whatever, and i am max kos. If that's intentionally, Sorry, but the necro's still lvoe me, and a seemingly unrelated faction hates me...

Riesen, why don't you just use the tloc? They're on neutral faction.

Mummy guards was -plague survivors? Get that petitioned, htat's a bug.

Speaking of boat bugs are they supposed to stall out midway through whatever sea they travel through then start up as well as stop near the port theyr'e going to till somebody jumps ship before resuming normal travel or is it just me?

I assume he doesn't use the tlocer cause you spawn right around lots of guards, and he mentioned being kos in newport.

My question is, why was the tloc price raised to 2 plat? what about all those newbie frogs and gnomes. They have newbie areas, yeah. But there's never anyone around. New characters are the ones who need to use the tlocers most urgently (to get to where ... people are), and spending 2 plat just to START leveling is a bit much.. not to mention having to port back to buy spells etc.
I dont know, it just seems a bit much to me.

I always thought 2 gp was far too low a price to use the translocator. It's something that you shouldn't be able to immediatly afford and instead must work towards it. I think it's a good change.

run

newport to freeport is a cake run for any experienced player. with or without sow. and 20 minutes to run half way around the world seems pretty easy.
