Make pet follow behind me please.?

When you hit pet hold, and recall him back to you, he ends up ontop of you and no longer obstructs your vision.
From Wiki.
This ability allows you to instantly call your minion to your side, making him forget about all foes he was fighting. The second rank of the ability will additionally make all foes forget about him as well. You may train the first rank upon reaching lvl 62 and the second rank upon reaching level 64.
i dont know if i always want the enemies to forget about him, and im sure id put that aa to its max as i can see many uses for it.
After you grow some more level's you'll learn some things about pets such as /cmd pet hold and when your higher level you'll be moving faster than your pet due to a buff or aa either way you won't notice the little guy 99% of the time unless he is attacking something
That statement builds on the fact that people should accept crap right now and hope it works out better in the end.
I think SoD should be a nice experience for all levels, no matter if you like racing through the game or playing it slowly for the first time like me.

Seems there are just as many people who like it as those whom disslike it.. so, are there any knowlegable people out there ( wiz? ) whom could kill this thread by stating that it cannot or will not be done, or perhaps tell us its not that bad of an idea and will be taken under consideration?
I still like the idea of commands like:
/cm pet followToSE
/cm pet followNormally

Wizards do not get pet hold, or pet shrink, and in fact our familiars are not even affected by shrinking spells. Our familiars behave in the same way as pets with respect to standing in front of use and being annoying though.

Sorry. Thought you were speaking from experience on your Mage.

I remember a few times where pet attacked from where I didn't wanted and got adds eventually, but yeah once you can recall the pet it's cool.
But it would be really nice to have the pet just behind you, always after your tail. Other suggestion sound good too, but let's see if just changing anything about pet positioning is feasible.

I can shrink my scaled wolf pet down pretty damn small but for those who can't (Wizards flappy pets, Ogre BST's and Druids with bear pets) I can see the problem. If this is feasible and wouldn't take much time away from more important things I would definitely be all for it.

The SE thing is definitely a annoyance to down right frustrating under certain conditions.

I would love a way to do a /cm NorthEast, or something to change what angle he is standing at.

I couldn't agree more. 90% of the time, it's no big deal, but if you are needing to do something to the SE other than run a relatively long distance before stopping, then it can make visibility and targeting difficult at best.

I experienced this yesterday when I started playing ~ I find it pretty annoying, he stands SE the exact distance away every time - if I want to scoot up to him and give him a weapon or so, he backs away. I can "push"him off a cliff because he keeps getting away from me every time I go near him. ;)

He actually agro'd a mob in Halls of.. Upper Guk =p when I went to a ladder and he fell off the cliff.

Pets are not kos to mobs, you got too close.

Also, having played mage and necro pretty much both to 65, the SE thing is generally a minor annoyance but there are some zones where you are almost always facing either east or south where it becomes an incredible pain in the ass. For example, western plaguelands if you're killing desert mobs.

I so agree that this really needs fixing, for more reasons that its just annoying that the pet 25% of the time gets in your line of sight, and that its hard to position him.
Whats worse is, that the way that he always wanst to be at "my loc +X, +Y" (or how ever its coded) often makes him stand in the wall, this often results in him fighting monsters who are "in the wall", making it impossible for players to attack the monster, or cast spells on it.

I know i can just "back off", play with out pet or what ever, but that doesnt change the fact that this is a bug that needs fixing.

Do most of you folks use first person camera or something? I've done my share of time with pets on SoD and its only really irritating if I get in close quarters and just so happen to be facing that way during a certain part of the lunar cycle in one particular spot... I digress. But hey, I use 3rd person and consider it the only way to really play... pets rarely give me a bit of trouble.

about 50% of time, yes.
tiny companion.. little mana cost, no refresh time. Not available for wizards.
fixed
Even if you make him tiny hes still in the way.
As a beastlord i myself often shrink myself and others to get them out of way, when you do this pet is not proportionally smaller and still in way.
Even if i did not shrink myself, just the pet, i dont want him running in front of me as its just plain annoying with his jittery running back and forth.

targeting is pretty horrible in third person, at least in the chasecam mode, because it gets stuck on walls and architectural features in a terribly annoying way

To this day I still find it somewhat appalling that people use first person. Admittedly, using third person takes some getting used to. The camera view I (and most people who use 3rd person) use is the freely movable floating cam... I'm not sure of the specific name. Its the last 1/2 views before F9 puts you back into first person. Using that camera in conjunction with the right mouse button you constantly adjust for the best view to fit your surroundings, so you can see whats going on everywhere that isn't directly in front of you. Force yourself to use it for a little while and you'll start to love it.

I've experimented before with the out of character views and the hardest part for me wasn't in moving the camera, but moving my character while he was independent of the camera. Maybe ill dick around with it some more later though.

My usual MO is to stay in first person unless I am doing something like walking on a narrow ledge, I find it easier to target stuff, and with the weird way ae spells work if I want to nuke more than one thing I have to be able to target each mob individually or risk running into melee range.
