Lost: Mantle of the Forest

A friend and guildmate of mine traded their mantle of the forest to another guildmate, so that they could use the clicky damage shield on the item. The receiving guildmate then attempted to trade the mantle back to the original item-owner, but instead of trading it to a player, they accidently gave it to the pet and without realizing it, and they clicked trade.

A big mistake; there is no need to point & laugh. When the original owner of the mantle of the forest spoke with someone on staff- they were told that nothing could be done.

I am posting here because I want to know if someone out there can take the time to verify this mistake and to take pity on the individuals involved by replacing the item. Mistakes happen- please consider reimbursement.
 
It's extremely unfortunate to lose something of that value...

I mean, there's no harm in returning a server-eaten item. It's like the same as returning a quest piece.

But, that's just my 2cp.
 
I actually had the same thing happen to me the other day - but it was a cash split from the group I was in instead.

I don't know how easy it would be to code it, but it would be nice if there were something like a confirm box when giving things to pets.

Like some sort of "confirm trade" box maybe.
 
Pets return NO DROP items.

Sorry, but you just need to take the time to look at the window when doing valuable trades. We can't protect you from your own mistakes all the time.
 
I understand that, Wiz. And the lesson has been learned.

I am humbly asking that this mistake, just once, be forgiven, and the valuable trade returned.
 
Well, all I can really say is that it would be very cool if someone would take the time out to help us out here. Lesson learned *shrug*. Crap happens, just like when mail dupe sent me back a bunch of items and I honestly destroyed the dupes. Any assistance would make a few players extremely happy.

I don't really see how that contributes to this thread. This isn't live. :dumb:

As Rab pointed out there is a confirmation box when trading to pets. It's an unfortunate thing that happened (I've done it myself before, just not with a Mantle of the Forest, lol), but the rules have been stated and are quite clear: players will not be reimbursed for things that happen due to thier own carelessness. :(
 
We refund items all the time when it's the server/a bug's fault that you lost it.

The problem with making an exception just for you is that then it would be unfair to not make an exception next time someone trades something valuable to their pet, wouldn't it? Policy should apply fairly to everyone, not selectively.
