Jumping in SoD (yes, spacebar)

Hmm, nice info's lol.. thought framerate only affected jump, but makes sense really that it affects falling too heheh.

that sounds absolutely horrible i know you can jump off the FR jump and aim for the water and be fine, i know i have survived the fall from a animation gflux based on just that i don't carry alot of coin or and have maxed my rog safe fall, sounds like this is just going to cause alot more issues than it causes. (I know that for instance my surviving the glfux from animation had nothing to do with my "framerate" as when i run fraps or anything(even on max settings) my frame rate never drops below like 60-80 regardless of whats going on).

What about things like the FR jump, Would you add a check for they landed in water or are headed towards water? Or they managed to click there insta levi click (or channeled there 2 seconds levi click) and there for survived? or would you get insta gibbed regardless? Are you going to add a check for coin? for safe fall? what happens when theres a lag on the server end and a fall that would normaly maybe do 250 non melee damage just kills you?

Edit: I know you can't levi in FR but lets just use that as a hypothetical k?

tl;dr
That sounds like a horrible idea

I know that in FR you can have a bard doing levitate song outside and then it will remain for 18 sec once you zone in. You can also do bard DA or other class DAs to survive the fall.

I also seem to remember falling into FR actually automatically putting a short DA on any character which i thought was supposed to let everyone survive the fall, but mine usually wore off before being useful.

Every time i tried to jump in the pit unprotected, I would have the DA cast, but fade .0001 secs before i hit the ground. Also, it would make you cast DA, so your invis would wear, so you'd die from the elementals anyways. I remember it worked once, but it's been broken for a long time now.

Client handles falling and jumping stuff (obviously). However I think I am going to add code to instakill anyone whose z axis value drops over a particular amount in a given period of time, now that I know people exploiting and not reporting it.
As much as I like the idea of closing loopholes where this can happen, I don't think instakilling should be just a quick fix for this. I worry about some possibilies like: (1) those who don't take the lift off Kelethin, (2) monks taking a steep path off a cliff, (3) people running downward with levitate on, or (4) unfortunate GFlux victims. If you feel you can find a way to safely do this without murdering mass innocents, rock on, but I felt it's important to point this out.

Also worth nothing is that different versions of the client mean differences in some less noticeable things like gravity, maximum falling speed, and forward velocity while jumping. I would agree that this lends to unfavorable conditions, but requiring (and enforcing) a specific client version is sketchier at best.

I remember in live using /q just before hitting the ground to jump into the Hole or when falling off the bridge in the Deep.
