Items that cause your death

Necromancer here. When I solo, I often manatap far down, and sometimes you feign death with that sliver of health remaining. Bottomline being, I am often under 10% health. I use 2 chest items, one of which is the mossy tunic (regen V is crucial to remain in skelly illusion in for instance; freeport) and the other I don't remember the name of (its a robe). Has like 80-ish hp and some sta, and for me it is somewhere near 100hp added. Now, my total hps (unbuffed) are about 1000.

Now here is the deal. If I, like today, after breaking one of my favourite spots in freeport, was left with 6-7% health while in FD. I wish to not die from my mana tap illusion so I do the same mistake over and over and over. I switch chest-pieces.

LOADING PLEASE WAIT...

Switching between them puts me, as I said, 100 hps in the negative. Very funny. death and debt. Would it be possible to remove this? Why do I loose my *current* hitpoints when I take off my robe? This has firstly, no logical explanation. You don't die from losing aego at low health. And secondly, iit is not like the healthpoints are connected with the robe somehow, I don't gain *current* healthpoints when I put it on.

I would see the solution that would either A) link the loss of current hp to the percentage of total xp in the item in question B) No current hp loss. Either of those would be somewhat sensible. At least eons more than the situation as of now.

PS: If this has been addressed in the past, I apologize. I just didn't bother scanning more than the first 10 headlines. =)

Aye, I recall reading a tip once for live that basically said to keep hitpoint gear in your bag and hot swap when low on health as kind of a dirty heal. I never bothered with it but remember reading something like that.

Edit to add - but that does suck dieing because you switched gear.

was actually a way to avoid a pvp kill and xp loss in pve on a pvp server.... just pull hp item when low. Quite humorous when someone pulled it too early.

Yes, that's what it was. Sorry, had it backwards.

We can't change this AND we wouldn't, because if we did then you could switch items to heal yourself.

Yes, I would also click off lich if I hadn't feigned right next to a mob, the skelly illusion was needed

And as for Wiz saying you could use this to heal yourself, that doesn't make sense. Just because you don't lose hp when you take it off, doesn't mean you gain hp by taking it on. kinda like the caster self buff line (shielding), it doesn't heal you when you cast it on yourself and it doesn't kill you when you click them off at low hps. I understand you can't do anything about it though.

I'll just have to suck it up =P

Umm....I FD'ed in Freeport next to several skellys more than one time and if you are up to wait a bit it isn't really a problem to get up again and recaast Lich to run out, maybe you need several times but it isn't that hard at all.

Sorry to butt in, but wouldn't your level one spell Invisibility to Undead take care of getting through Freeport? Or are you talking about hanging around there for a while?

/agree camlost

If the item were to only affect your maximum HPs stat, then it will not change your current HPs, no matter how many times you took it off and put it on.

This would result in when you put it on you would have to wait for your HPs to regen to full health, which I am sure nobody would mind. If you then take it off, your HPs instantly get reduced to the new max level, if they are above the new max level.

As the caster buff seems to work this way, maybe its a code limitation on not being able to get items to function the same as spells in this case for some reason. (it should be possible to make it work like the spell if they really want to)

I died once while removing something while looting so I could put something else on. Not very funny at all :/
