I have been having a terrible time with the boats, worse today than usual. So far, 5 times out of 6 attempts to catch the boat from South Newport to Freeport have dumped me in the water when the boat zones without me. Standing, sitting, moving, lev'ing have no effect on the chances to survive the zoning. We have a chance to be dumped no matter what we do, nor where we are (very front of the boat, back, or inside.
One thing that does seem to work is to do a "/cmd save" right before the boat zones, then /quit out and come back in. By then the boat has zoned, and when you re-enter the game you will load into the same zone as the boat.
We usually need to drop the client entirely to desktop after using /quit, since it will most likely error out if we don't, but this is all fairly fast compared to waiting for the next Freeport boat.
Edit: Tried to /cmd save on the boat, and when I was tossed out for the 7th time, I quit immediately. When I came back, I was still in the water in South Newport. So, you need to /quit out of the boat while you are still on it.
