Is there true balance between Giant and Dragon alliance?

I am dragon aligned and have been asking around about progression etc.  I can never seem to get a straight answer when it comes to this though.

Are there simialar number of named NPCs to raid?  Are they on the same difficulty level?  Are the drops equal in theory?  Is there a similar steady progression?  (IE in DHK you do 1 wing, then another etc....In SK you do the arena then the coralishas?) Is there an equal drop of giant heads VS scales?

I am not making any accusations or saying I think one or the other.  I am merely seeking what information people have or believe.

Thanks for the help peoples!

The fact that it's hard for you to get a "straight" answer might be tribute to the fact that they're nicely balanced.

No, they're not completely equal. That's impossible, and even if it wasn't, it would defeat the purpose of having two separate factions. But they're fairly balanced.

NDHK is equivelant to Storm's Eye iirc. the other 2 wings are stormkeep like you equated.

and also iirc storm's eye is not complete?

Storm's Eye is not complete, no. Also to answer your question simply Danku, no they are not perfectly balanced, and most guilds (In the raid game) need to kill both sides for awhile before allying to either side.

Id say that high end raiders passed this stage of progression would certainly benefit a great deal more from allying to Dragons-- simply because the Rymaz Head quest aug is iireplacable for any class, whereas the big quest benefits from Giants are sometimes class/archetype specific and always able to be replaced later on.

Giant ally just has all the uber loot anyway that Dragon ally doesn't.

Still, you will never ever replace and aug of that quality, simply because you can use it in new pieces as you progress. Even Sunbane Bracer can be replaced.

If a guild is serious about progressing then they need to kill both sides because both offer drops that are necessary. Now that DHK and SK are basically always up they could fly through both zones within a month and have a nice base of gear to worry about doing the turn ins later. Basically just say screw faction and collect heads/scales as you go and do a big turn in after you done hiphopping around...

To me that is kind of like knowing every mathmatical equation for the game. Doing something because you know exactly what will happen etc.

MMORPG, I dont wanna bounce back and forth. I hate the giants for the attempted genocide they have tried to commit to the dragons! Giants must die!

Well, if you prefer to be handicapped because of some cyber loyalty then thats your own perogative. But, from a guild wide stand point it is pretty impossible to gear a tank up without going through DHK.

If you really mean this, why did you make this thread in the first place?

Roleplay logic loophole. Roleplayers worldwide now must rethink thier lives or be forever cursed to wander the earth aimlessly.

To try to find information about it in general. Aks wide open general questions, then get the useful info that helps you out of the answer if there is any.

Just because I am Dragon aligned doesn't mean I cannot be interested in giants and how they balance. Many people assume that everyone knows what they know. This is my first time around the mildly high end of the SoD server and I am in a learning curve atm.

For those that might bash him for having som RP reasons...Wiz and others put a lot into this game based on story. If you can't respect that, then go play a MUD.

It's a shame there's not more RP (and no I don't mean the "official" RP that most people just want to be part of to try to get some fame points and such).

As for this comment...cyber loyalty? You mean your "guild" exists outside of this game? Do you have grand adventures and slay beasts on the weekend? Are you one of those weird LARPers?

No...try to read it again and maybe you can understand that - I thought it was pretty self explanatory...

He's playing the game as it was intended to be played in my opinion. I don't see that as being a "handicap". Who's to say things won't change later after the giants are finished? Maybe your point is valid right now, but it's possible that it won't be valid in the near future.

Future-defense, well played
