/invite Privileges for All?

Too often, groups affairs are brought to a standstill by the fact that /invite is restricted to the group leader. If the leader is AFK, distracted, lagging, zoning, crashing, logged out, or otherwise unavailable, the group has only two options when it comes to recruiting a newcomer:
  1. To break and reform the group without the leader (who presumably will need to be reinvited later anyway), or
  2. To twiddle their thumbs until the leader is able to send the invite(s) out.
The leader's monopoly on invitations can also lead to the aggravating /makeleader bug wherein the leader attempts to pass leadership to an out-of-zone group member by using the F keys only to realize after the fact that doing so breaks the group leadership altogether, meaning nobody at all will have the ability to invite unless the group is completely reformed.

How feasible would it be to create a /cm invite command that would bypass the leadership check and allow any member of a group to invite other players? Are there major downsides to universal invite privileges that I'm overlooking? Group removal (a.k.a. kicking someone out) via /disband should probably still be reserved for the leader, but it seems to me that if people are banding together as a group for a common goal (exp, farming, raiding, etc.), then each member deserves to be trusted not to abuse such a command.

I can think of two potential implementation issues with a /cm invite command, though it's possible they could be easily addressed by the staff. Firstly, the command needs to be made to follow the same combat rules as regular /invite (i.e. making sure it couldn't be used to invite mid-combat). Secondly, I'm unsure how such a command might affect raid groups; it is conceivable that it could lead to new or unforeseen raid bugs, which are already too abundant as it is.

What do others think of this idea?

personally i think this would be nice as during raids and groups, people often crash zoning here and there due to bad net, computer, or server issues.

anything that makes things more streamlined is generally welcome.

Interesting idea. What would be cool is to allow the TRUE group leader to turn off that invite ability in case you have one or more idiots in your group. I'm not sure the logistics of doing this in the current system, but it seems to me it may at least be possible.
