Inner Prison / Outer Prison Trash and Armor Quest Pieces

I would like to suggest that the armor pieces necessary in creating Stormwoven/Draconic armor and ultimately Combine be added to the loot tables of trash in OP/IP.

From my understanding of the lore, Combine armor is related to Stormwoven/Draconic armor sets and their Ornate upgrades, with the armor sets of Giants / Dragons being cheap knock-offs of the Combine Armor. The gems necessary for the armor still remain in Prison, so it would make sense that the unfinished armor pieces be in the zone as well.

It seems like a considerable amount of time is spent seeking these armor pieces out by people who have progressed far beyond the zones they drop in, and if pieces were added to trash in Prison it may be easier for people to gain their combine armor without spending countless hours in trivial zones. The timesinks of factioning, gaining ornate gems, gaining combine gems and even gaining the armor pieces from the trash would still remain.

I tend to agree, even if the lore says the guardians in Prison only carry the potent gems they looted from Admyrzza's stash. Having them drop off just OP trash would make sense really, and maybe some of the harder mobs having a decent (ie not retarded low like everything else) chance to drop chest/leg pieces would be nice. I'd also like to see trash in Prison and Thaz tower drop more gems/cash items then what they currently do. 98% of the mobs in Thaz drop absolutely nothing at all :[

Generally speaking, ideas to make ntov/etc less of a bottleneck for combine have been shot down in the past, so I wouldn't be too hopeful about this latest incarnation. Adding more "flavor" drops to prison/thaz sounds fine, though, especially since prison mobs tend to drop a retarded amount of plat anyway iirc (so it could be lowered and shifted to gem or resellable spell drops).

NToV/SE mobs don't drop armor pieces. The only ideas I've seen shut down were for Marvelous/Exquisite gems to drop others places etc.

total time in DN 2boxing, chain killing all dragons in zone, hoping for a silk robe to drop: 16 hours
total silk robes dropped: 0.

I would be estatic to see these drop in prison, undrestanding it would be rare.

The RNG (random number generator) is a cruel mistress. I saw at least 4 of these rot while I was there looking for a plate BP, and at least 3 more while looking for a 2nd plate BP after I finally got the first.

again luck of the draw. I got a tunic my first night in DN (first never ever) in about 2 hours with a group off rats. But we spent like 20 days straight 3-4 hours a day tryin to get Kelity a robe.

The point about the armor is you should have it before you even get into prison. If you dont tough titties

oh hay, wiz, i have lost too many of my last 100 /randoms. In a group of 6, you would think that I would win 1/6, but no, I've only actually won about 3/34. You should recheck the code.

This suggestion isn't about the rarity of the drops, or complaining about the armor pieces being a timesink. With the amount of time is takes to clear IP trash compared to the relatively small number of trash mobs, adding a chance for an armor piece would hardly remove the bottlekneck. People who farm places such as MielC/DN etc would obviously have an increased chance of getting the armor pieces to drop, but it wouldnt be necessary to waste time in those zones, and would make it easier on classes who cannot solo in those areas as efficiently.

So yea don't post here to comment on the random number generator or to complain about shitty luck, or bring shit from other threads since you didnt like the response you got in yours, it isn't intent of this thread. Thx

PS- It might make sense to add armor drops to NDhk/SE as well, or instead of Prison, since it would combine the Ornate drops with the armor pieces. With the increased spawn timer I dont think it would be effiecient for single groups to come in and farm, but it would nice for NDhk raids for the same reasons it would be nice for Prison raids.

could go with the MielchC type dungeons dropping more or having those that are simliar drop armor. Aka area around Ez in Sorcs Lab and the like. The lower level groups are gonna romp thru those, and they are just as hard as some areas in DN.

Yeah, I passed on the robe so that guild wizards could get it. Great people who are really useful such as Arakan, Plure, and Meepins. I really hate all of them. All of them. I very seriously have 2 of every piece in my bank ATM except for that. I certainly am not complaining about the random number generator, no matter what idiocy spouts from Gea. I just would fully support armor pieces dropping in other places than where they are right now.

agreed .. just not in prison. Prison assumes you have the 2nd Tier of armor already. There is no reason for Prison to drop the base armor pieces.

Would be nice to have one more zone with armor drops, but to be honest its fine the way it is. Its just annoying.

What? :psyduck:

Combine Armor is end game raid equipment. In my mind, this means it should 1) Be difficult and take time and effort to obtain, and 2) Not have it's most basic and elusive element be based solely on chance in group situations prior to the end game. Obviously it should still drop in experience zones, because their are three tiers to the armor and it is required for the first. But, really, is there a reason to limit it to those zones? Your argument is that someone should be so lucky to come across a chest/leggings of their armor type and win them, and if not they should rely on farming in extremely random situations on top of raiding/exping to the extent that would allow them to be able to raid Prison? This makes no sense.

Personally, I already do not agree with Combine Armor being dependent on factioning in unrelated zones, but since this is obviously something that will not be changed, at least give raiders who already spend a lot of time raiding/exping (and you have to if youre clearing Prison) a chance, however small, to get an armor piece. Even if your opinion is that people should have ornate armor by the time theyre in Prison, you can't deny that everybody does.

Just FYI right now I'm sitting at home plotting and stroking my mustache, cackling over the fact that maybe someone won't have to farm in DN or MielC for 5 months to get a BP or Legs. Now all they have to do is progress to IP and then kill hundreds of trash mobs. Muahahahahaha If only this loophole could be implemented!!!!!

oh no not a bottleneck

Yea a 10% chance of any armor piece dropping in IP isn't really a bottleneck.

I really don't see how this could be a problem. It gives raiders who were unlucky enough to never have come across an armor piece at lowers levels a small chance to get them while raiding. Prison sucks up a lot of time. It has relatively few, extremely difficult trash mobs, most of which are linked. It would still be beneficial to farm for the armor pieces, but honestly, between raiding somewhere like Prison and exping, not many people have the time to clear through DN or MielC and pray for their one piece of armor to drop. It wouldnt remove the bottleneck, it doesn't matter how small the chance of getting a piece is on a raid as long as it is over 0%.

I can't argue for it any better than I already have.

I was under the impression that the bottleneck was considered to exist in the MARVELOUS GEM drop rate, which requires a raid in NDHK (or the corresponding gems in SE/SK, as the case may be.)

If the armor drops aren't considered the bottleneck, and making more areas drop armor pieces wouldn't change the bottleneck, I don't see what the problem is with this suggestion, except that it may help very slightly mitigate a completely separate time sink that basically requires one man 2-boxing in DN for untold hours.
