I think I have convinced my cousin to play. He wants to play a Beast I think. Does this qualify as a melee? I have never played one so I don't know if they are caster/priest squishy types or not. I might be able to get him to play War as well, but I don't know for sure. Should I just force him to play War or is Beast sufficient?
Tys for the reply's. =)
EDIT: He said he will play anything that doesn't wear a robe. His words not mine. =P
Beastlords are primarily melee/utility.
They are not the best tanks in the world, but their pets are fair off tanks for adds. They do add a lot to EXP groups, especially if there are no Shamans in it. If there is a druid in the group, you really have most of the buffs covered to some degree. With a tank, expect the beastlord to send his capable pet in to fight; for the beastlord to slow and then join in the fun. If things get bad he can throw in some dots and he has a decent patch heal. His pet heal is pretty incredible and takes little manna, allowing him to heal his own pet in all but the heaviest damage.
Buff-wise, he has a HP buff that stacks with all buff but the Paladin HP buff. The Paladin buff has a few more HP, but he BST buff adds attack. Very desirable
The Beastlord has a manna/regen line of spells that stack with all other spells except some infrerior item clickies. Very desirable
The Beastlord has a spell that reduces aggro but adds 20% damage to nukes and dots. Casters love it. Very desirable for caster dps.
Then if there are no Shamans the Beastlord has inferior stat buffs as well as another HP buff that is only inferior to the Shaman buff. He also has a haste that is not as good as either enchanters or shamans, but is real nice if neither are in your group. The beastlord ends up with the second best slow in the game, second only to shaman.
DPS wise he is behind Rogues, Rangers and Monks. But add in his pet and he is a nice DPS addition.
All that to say, if you have a Druid like I read, a beastlord makes a nice addition. But he really shines the best if there is a tank in the group.
Also while there is one robe that is nice for a beastlord (Shroud of Vapor) most of the time he wears leather. Many loot items he can use are only for monks and beastlords (so some are cloth).
Most raids will benefit from one beastlord, for his buffs. They can add significantly to DPS and the manna regen always helps.
heh If you can't tell, I love the class.
