first ruins

@diriel: You are confusing the 2 terms. Here, let me help you out.

Box means to play 2 toons at once, for various reasons. Like: you like too, you need the toon to be effective, or you want to get the toon loot he couldn't get on his own, for example.

Bot means the toon is just there to be logged in for buffs, or a CotH (in this case). These toons are used and abused, and then logged off. For example, a bot would be logged in for relic mage ds, or a kei/jb, etc.

@darksabbath,

Thank you for that. One of the EMU's I played on allowed people to run macro'd toons in "bot mode" so to speak.

Changing pages, my miner toon just got gutted. Mining is a pita in the first place. In the second place the Trade Skilled armors are so incredibly dated these days, that for the trouble, they suck. So, thank you for forcing me to quit mining and working on TS.

I suppose I will check back from time to time on SoD. I will say this: The Main Quest is one of the best things about SoD. Another bright spot is the Newport Ring, but even that can be a painful grind. I mean, if you start Factioning 100% for Newport factions from level 1, you will still be far short of the factions needed and will likely end up coming back later for your ring and grinding mobs that are rubbish. That really takes some of the appeal out of the quest. I am not saying the rewards should be instant, but being forced to grind trash that gives no exp, AND gets in the way of players who could be exp'n on those same mobs is just not fun.

How did your miner get gutted? I R confuzzled...

The newport requires no faction, but does indeed give you some. I walked into town with my frog pally and said "hey dude, I want to help.", and he sent me on my way, same as always. Parts of it are annoying, but the end result is so very worth it. The t-map quest reward requires way more "grinding" than the np ring. Both are rewards that can last well into the raid game. They are just that good, esp. the vah upgrade to the tmap reward.

Are you confusing the ring with the gate neck?

Not any more.

Wait does this mean you cant bard levitate and invis down the pit anymore??? I felt like that was one of the coolest parts about FR, really. The whole sneaking in the back to kill hard mobs right off slash avoid killing your sivyana faction was so awesome. Would make me sad if you can't do that anymore.

Also, it actually does take skill to do, as you have to time levitate and zoning in and know where the hell you're falling to also or else you pull other mobs and.... yea you get the point.

As for the miner issue, Slaariel stated in a post on page 1 that a fix was in and that it would not be nice to miners.

Having done the ring and gate... i may well be yes. That being said, I recently tinkered a bit with the RING and yes you can walk up and say you want to help, but you NEED good faction with especially the guards to complete the quest. The bandit heads can get real old, especially when players who want to Faction AND Level come up and essentially say "hey dude, you mind letting me have a few so I can level up?" I mean, hey, in my mind if you are trying to Level and some dude is there just collecting heads and FAR past any exp at all... the person who wants to level should get the nod logically. That being said, both have a solid right to the camp so first come first serve. Yes, it has been quite a while since I did those quests in full, and my memory is somewhat blurry so forgive me if my thoughts came out muddy.

i prefer to just jump down without levitate

Except where you could jump down anywhere, with invis and survive the fall with minor damage. There is really no skill involved at all. Pretty sure you enter at the same spot regardless of how you zoned in.

Do not really know what would come from not killing your sivyana faction, shes kos to begin with unless you pledge to her.

I do not get the point. I just know its really frustrating to have people jump down the hole and snipe favug from you when you cleared legitimately.

Also apparently in everquest updates they removed the entire ability to go down the hole so you aren't going to have this in 3.0 unless the devs decide to do something silly.

In fact you don't have this any more RIGHT NOW.

So uh, what happens if you jump in the hole now? Death? Have to find a necro to summon your corpse out (ask me how I know this)?

It claims your under the world, teleports you back up in a safe spot and shatters your immersion.

So I'm looking for some leech xpz. I ooced like 40x in the span of 5 minutes but have yet to find any. People in this thread are offering some, yes? Please.

I don't have any inside information on this situation (I could probably just ask and find, but meh...).

However, context would suggest that Slaar is referring just to ease of access to Deepmetal Ore veins for lower level characters whose are used solely for their Mining skill and likely not able to fight the NPCs in the zone effectively.

why would you make deepmetal harder to get...
not like the game exploding with deepmetal sets... and most of the people who can afford it, buy way way better ikky phats anyways...
