Exploitation and Necromancers/ Shadowknights

I am curious if it is an exploit to cast a dammage over time spell on an enemy and then use Feign death either by necro sk or by druid shaman dotting the enemy and then the necromancer casting enstill feign death upon them.
This also apply's to raid encounters are you allowed to tash/malo/slow then target fd the enc shm mag so that when you engage the mob is debuffed and slowed ?

Ok, thanks wiz that clears things up for me at first I saw no differance between doing these two things but apparently I was sadly mistaken.

Then DoTing a mob casting target FD on person who dotted and then them going link dead would be exploitation of a system ? Shaman binding close to said enemy casts DoT on it then dies, since the shaman is bound close the shaman can then use canniblize and repeat process ? Then DoTing a mob and gating before it dies to escape faction hit would also be a sploit ?
6 necromancers DoTing a mob sending pets all fd then resummon pets and repeat process ?

I played live for 5 years and am still new to SoD 3 months I am just trying to find my boundaries inside this sand box. I am here to play have fun and meet new people not to exploit or sit in jail =) Chrux

How about this:
Raid mob X has a ton of hitpoints. Raid almost succeeds but wipes out when mob is at 2%. Clerics zone back into the dungeon, rez everyone, wait for mana, buff everyone, wait for mana again, and raid is ready to re-start. Mob X is at 76% due to massive hitpoints and slow regen.
Would engaging mob X before he gets to 100% be an exploit?

Never been in such a situation (and probably never will) but I've noticed mobs here regen slower when not aggro'd than in EQ live (for example a bone dragon in Dragon Necropolis).

No and no. The first situation only makes use of basic in-game mechanics, and FD can potentially fail from damage anyway. The second situation is no different from someone else engaging the mob you wiped on and killing it while it is still hurt -- clearly legitimate.

To pre-empt, the big difference between FD and evac/zoning like was done is that zoning will shed you of ownership for those damage spells, meaning that you can DoT, zone, come back, and then you won't get any aggro for those DoTs, whereas if you tried to FD/DoT Plaguefang he'd summon you as soon as you stood up.

Here's a nice hint. If killing a monster relies on you doing shit like zoning and coming back so that it won't summon you, it's probably not okay.

If there's a question about it's better to ask then just do it and pray it's not an exploit. If it's something you'd feel guilty over asking about, it's probably exploiting.

Yea that is why im asking about anything I can think of because I thought that what we did to plaguefang was just as legit as fd doting but learned that is was not. I played live for 5 years,SoD for 3 months and I guess I have a few things still to learn about the rules differances between the two unfortunately I am so occustomed to live rules playing eq that I have got in to a few incidents here playing by them such as killing the snp bankers and this plaguefang strat.If I can think of anything else I wll now be sure to post it before I do it to make absolutely sure that I am not doing something against the rules or such because I desire to abide by them and help make SoD a better place for all by knowing what you are allowed and not allowed to do instead of people having to spend 13 days in jail like myself over something they did not even consider thinking would be an exploit,which after now that wiz explained the differance between FD and zoning I know now. My only regret was that at least 100 people knew we were going to attempt this strat with 6 people and not one of them bothered to say hey this is an exploit but instead problably petitioned us so we all got jailed and Talamr+alt banned, it was a sad day for us all and my guild as well losing the most actve necro and mage, as such I am waiting out my sentance but would advise other players to post here as well if they have any questions about what you can or cannot do because I would not wish upon them the same fate that we are now enduring.

Wiz what about mobs that forget about you after a certain amount of time FDed. I thought it was like 2 minutes or so of FD = aggro loss or something like that. If that is just a rumour I heard or something what about perma rooted mobs. I mean since they cant retain aggro while they are "pathing" back to their spawn point wouldnt they just lose aggro instantly unless you managed to re-aggro them (casting a spell or something) or is there code to prevent this? Just came to me and I am curious.

There is a timer for agro, I'm not sure of the exact number, but 2 minutes sounds right. But for a rooted mob, if you FD within its agro radius, and stand up again, you will regain agro.

I would recommend that anything you feel like you need to post to ask if its an exploit, probably is. There are stark differences from using in game mechanics like FD + DoT on exp mobs, and trying to circumvent them via things like Dot / Zone / Gate etc. to kill a raid level mob. I am not sure how they can be construed as remotely the same thing. Talamr wasn't banned as a result of this activity it was a result of his actions following the activity. So please stop misrepresenting how it happend. The best rule of thumb is to use common sense.

This is quite possibly the most ridiculous eq related post i've seen since the late 90s. Chrux you and everyone of those "100" people knew what you were doing, the jail sentences are light as is if you ask me. I'm sure I am not the only person praying for the day I can /petition you and see you banned forever. These are the same people that had to return their orc amices' because of exploiting btw.

Ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law, its quite funny to see you try to claim you had no idea what your doing and I hope no one is actually taking you seriously. You are the same person who run into the mielb frenzy while its camped and KS the offerer and then point that group of mid 40's to the main page rules that talks about first to engage. Yes we all know and have all talked about there are no camps on this server, but there is courtesy, which 99% of the people exercise. I sincerely believe that you have bad intentions Chrux and to say anything else is simply fiction in my eyes.

I find it wholly ironic that the same guy who has KS'd me multiple times as well as prowling mielb invis ninja killing named spawns from our groups would have the downright lack of self respect to invite me to the swirling wind of garbage that is better known as Steel. You are lucky to have an account unlike talamr, this server, however, is not lucky to have you.

2. Its not in game time.

1) I will never ever ever ever do anything that would intentionally put my account in jeapordy.
2)I never got an amice of the golden dawn yet I did use earth ele and Lich form to kill orcs because necro's are always in lich form and earth ele is the only illusion that I can use to get stats.

I recall a time when I gave you travellers boots <2000 plat worth of loot which you promptly sold> from the mob I killed then just after that you accused me of ksing your mobs when you were no where near the camp and did not engage.Ninja invising to rares and killing them ? Ok thats a new one pal NINJA yea im a necromancer I use invis to dodge noobs like you and avoid agro on the way to rares so I can maximize my time killing rares instead of yard trash like someone I know. Look up kill stealing or get a clue pal you do not own any mobs, you attack them they agro you first then you have a claim ! Just because a rare is up and you are clearing to it or just know that it is up does not mean that it belongs to you !

Thus no I will never show you any courtesy for I did that by giving you FREE Travellers Boots then you go on and shout/ooc that I am ksing mobs that you never engaged and make hate comments upon me and my guild !

1. Using uncalled for punishments against people that clearly don't deserve it is lame. The only thing we have for leverage is donator status. This server is great in every single aspect except the decision making process. This isn't the first time some sort of decision has been sent down that has been infuriating. But we continue to play here, because in reality, it is the best MMO out there right now. I feel like theres no common sense made when these kinds of decisions are handed out.

2. Thank you for finally clearing that up, theres been alot of miscommunication on wether or not it was in game or not.

3. Just the thought of them potentially being banned for this incomprehensible. To be honest, I'm only defending the account of Rurho. I don't even know the other members of the part besides Chrux, and as I see its not the first time he's been jailed or whatever. I completely feel that getting any kind of punishment for what they did is wrong, but i'm past that now, and I'm fighting for the actual sentancing. 2 Weeks is not a good alternative. 2 Weeks is just stupid. They geniunely did not know that what they were doing was a punishable offence, and they did not exploit anything!

Why couldn't of Wiz said "Hey guys, don't do that" before they did it? Instead he probably just watched and hit his insta-jail button soon as they were done.
