are you trying to make people quit or does it just come naturally

http://www.wintersroar.com/index.php?page=rules says:
[ Server Rules ]
XI. No more than two clients are allowed to be played by the same person at the same time. Different computers or the same does not matter. If you are playing more than two characters at the same time one of those will be deleted. Did you notice that I said at the same time? As in logged in in the same span of passing time. You know, so you don't need to go "What I can't have more than 2 chars?!" and close IRC in a huff. I promise.

Are you trying to ignore the rules or does it just come naturally?

it is a fairly unexpected rule, but then again this is my first experience with a custom server
played for several years comfortably duo/tri boxing, coming here skimming through the generic "don't exploit" and "be nice to eachother" kind of rules, I guess I missed it

what if you duo boxed and used a third character solely for buffing purposes, have him logged out and just briefly relog to refresh buffs
techincally you would be tri-boxing for about 30 seconds
would that be ok, or would I need to log out char1, log on char3, buff char2, log off char2, log on char1, buff char1, log off char3, log on char2

You'd need to do that.

Meaning: "Yes, that would be alright."

Logging in Char 1, 2 and 3, then buffing both and logging off char 3 isn't though (Just for the record).

Wait, wait, "unexpected" rule? Are you saying instead of reading the rules, you guess what they are?

Ignorance is not an excuse.

And no, you can't log in a third character just to buff.

What?! You dont GUESS the rules? :brow: Oh man, I have lived in a lie for so many years then...

pd: that was 100% sarcasm in case it didnt sound like it

what's with the amount of hostility / gm ass kissing

and yes it's a fairly unexpected rule, after having played on live for a few years it didn't even cross my mind to be denied playing multiple chars so I'm so terribly sorry for not having post-it notes all over my monitor with the rules printed out

you could have just easily been somewhat polite about it, pointing it out along the lines of "hey trig by the way it's against the rules so please stop it"

do you all high 5 eachother after each rude/hostile/threatening/arrogant reply ?
I'm all for enforcing the rules and getting straight to the point, but do you all HAVE to be so rude about it?

After a year and a half, telling rule breakers who simply refuse to read the rules to please stop gets tiring.

There's no such thing as an expected rule. Ignorance is not an excuse.

Dude, why make enemies. You're taking it too personally. Just be more aware of server policies in the future.

What he said ;)

By the way, if you think we are doing a "gm asskissing thing" just because we are talking about your clear mistake of NOT READING THE RULES, well, you have issues buddy.

it's not so much talking as it is "yeah way to go, you tell him!" kind of quote/reply action

how am I making enemies? I'm just trying to defend myself
got a bit of hostile action coming my way, so I'm trying to even it out

OK here's the difference between a legit private server where rules are enforced by players as well as GMs and one where people do pretty much whatever they want to.

One of them is fun, the other is not.

We really are trying to encourage a fun playing environment. No one hates you because you three boxed. We are just enforcing the rules. End of story. Right? I'm about done posting.
