discussing exp changes...

So, here's some findings from my new UI which shows percentage exp:

I'm playing 32nd cleric in unrest, (only un-bugged char i have atm):

1) In a group with a 29 ranger and a 27 ranger, killing Zark the Undying, 33 or 34th level (yellow to me) mob:

2% exp

2) Solo, killing a very-low blue mob, mansion noble: (I know its very low blue, because some nobles are light-blue already)

3% exp

3) Solo, killing a light blue mob, mansion champion:

2% exp

So, something is messed up I believe. There's no incentive to group, i may as well bottom-feed on the lowest blues, and spare the pain of forming a group.

In general, the nerf which was intended to cut down on post-50 exp, has hurt pre-50 exp very much. Soloing 35-50 mobs to get to 33rd level from 32nd is about what EQ live exp was at. And this +1 level to "offset" the exp changes is just silly... At low levels, who cares about +1 level? It was very nice for those grinding through 55+ though...

with my warrior at 48th level, in a group of three 60s and 2 59s, killing a 62nd level mob in solro:

12% exp.

with my ranger at 23rd level, solo killing 20th level mobs in EW:

3.3% exp.

ranger solo killing a 25th mob (mammoth) in EW:

9% exp.

hmmmm

My warrior 49th level, grouped with a 60 and 2 59s, killing a 50-51st mob (yellow) in DN: 5% exp

My warrior at 50th level, grouped with a 60 and 2 59s, killing a 51-52nd mob (yellow) in DN: less than 1% exp (didn't move percent bar).

As a matter of fact, i didn't get 1% exp until killing 2 reds and 2 yellows in this group...

Level 50 is 20 times as hard as level 49? Or is there something truly messed up with group exp?

Cheers,
Jules

exp at 51...

at 51, in a group of 5 50ish people, killing 1 yellow mob in DN: .5% exp

at 51, solo killing 1 yellow mob in DN: 2.5% exp

So... Where's that group exp bonus? Perhaps its not stacking with the yellow/red mob exp bonus?

Cheers,
Jules

I'm getting anywhere between 4% and 20% AA per kill (53-60 mobs) in Sebilis crypt, solo. Assuming I was in a full group with no bonus whatsoever that'd still be 0.66% to 3.33% per kill. In a full group, with no 90% bonus.

I see no problem.

Following your argument, soloing blues is better than killing reds in a full group? I don't see a problem either...

Keep in mind here that there is no way I could solo these mobs normally - as a 60 warrior with top of the line equipment and every decent combat relevant AA but Flurry and Double Riposte, I still need help from my 60 cleric and a borrowed 60 shaman to do it effectively.

So no, I see no problem at all.

So why is it that everyone on the server prefers to solo or mild PL (healer out of group), to grouping versus tougher mobs?

This is the same mistake that EQ live made 5 years ago, by making PL or assisted soloing preferrable exp to getting a full group and taking on challenging mobs. (once the time to form / buff / and transport the group is taken into consideration)

Those who do not heed the lessons of history, are doomed to repeat it.

Eulogy was PL-ing themselves as a group, instead of grouping, and making similar or better progress... Either 90 percent isn't enough, or some of these bonuses aren't stacking (group + red mob bonus, for instance).
