Custom UI

I'm looking to modify and create a custom UI from different parts of other UI's from on EQ Interface. I know how I'd like it to look, but can't figure out how to get it to look the way I desire unfortunately if anyone good at this sorta thing your help would be appreciated. Basically what I'm looking to do is use a few layouts together if possible.

I'd like to use the hot button window from this theme along with the inventory window and probably that EQ logo as well just to fill in some space for looks http://www.eqinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=4419

Then I'd like to grab majority of the stuff from this diablo 2 theme with some slight changes. I want to keep the standard EQ spell gems rather then the wow icons. Also I'd like the hot buttons removed since I'd be using the skeleton one from above and in doing so I'd like that whole bar congested together with the hot button from above resting above and kinda nestled in between the mana and hp bubbles http://www.eqinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=3012

Then last, but not least I'd like to like to use this spell book with it http://www.eqinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=356

I basically just don't know how to remove the middle hot buttons area and congesting the rest of the hp/mana/sta/resist/xp bar together.

Ok.

To get the graphical theme of the UI, there are a set of files that control it. They look like window_pieces01-0X.tga. Those control the graphics of the windows. If you open them in a image viewing program like Image Ready/Photoshop, you see all the little pieces of windows in one image. This is what the xml files for the UI call to when giving the graphics.

The hot buttons window is EQUI_HotButtonWnd.xml. The Spell Book is EQUI_SpellBookWnd.xml. The spell gems are controlled by spells01-0X.tga and gemicons01-0X.tga. The Game Logo is a window put in by the Company pretty recently and is not compatible with SoD. It would probably crash your client if put in.

If you want I can set it up for you and host it so you can download the final version. This is of course if my directions make no sense(Very strong possibility!). For clarification on anything you can look for me in-game on Brimz or Arraz, or just shoot me a PM.

I get what your saying, but I don't think it's that simple to do I need the diablo 2 EQUI_HotButtonWnd to remove the hot buttons and be squished/slide together to fill in the empty hot button area gap after that it has to be somehow renamed/used for a player window instead in order for me to be able to use the actual EQUI_HotButtonWnd for the skeleton hot button UI. If you know how to do what I'm talking about and it's not too difficult I'd defiantly applicate it.

I can put it all together tomorrow afternoon and have it all set for you. Should be ready by tomorrow night.

Uber do you know how to modify a 9 spell bar ui into a 8 gem one as well by chance because there's a nice skull spell bar in that same T King Undead theme I'd have used along with what I mentioned above if it possible to easily modify it into the normal 8 gem spell bar since the 9th gem slot won't work with the SoD client. If you don't know how or can't don't even worry about it though I can just use the spell bar from the diablo 2 theme instead if that's the case. Once again thanks for the help looking forward to the UI.

It came out a little different than I was hoping for originally anyway this is how it ended up looking. Also thanks for trying to help out brimztone.

Here's the done version I changed one more thing on it which was the players window to world of warcraft version instead which looks a bit nicer plus it's conveniently easier targeting both player and pet health bars as well. If anyone wants a copy just let me know and I can send a copy through email or try to host it someplace. It actually looks a little better in game cause there's animations for the different parts of it.

Don't do it! Look carefully he has darkrot!!!!! J/K looks good.

I fixed a problem with it preventing you from clicking on the chat box so had to alter the layout slightly by switching the chat window, action window, and pet window with the hot bar window so it'll look slightly different from the screen posted on forums I updated a new screen of it on the host site of how it looks in it's current/finished form. It turned out looking more polished after the fixing the text box.

Here's the link to the host

That's a damn nice UI, and I've been looking for a new default one for a while - assuming it looks as good when I try it ingame, would you object if this was put on the patcher instead of the crummy default UI?

Some people like the crummy default UI, don't replace it prz~

Seriously, I can't wait to get home and take a look...only and hour and a half left till work is over!

Edit :

I like it, I just play with a higher screen resolution than you built it for so it looks a little funky, I think I'll stick with what I've been using.

I wouldn't object to the idea, but honestly it would make more sense leaving the normal ui for players because it's setup for 1280x1024 resolution all though I think I can put together a 1024x768 resolution versionl. Given the situation of resolution sizes a better option would probably be to just patch the folder into the uifiles folder for players to load if they want to try it out. Assuming I can put together a 1024x768 version as well you could name the UI folders correspondingly to reflect resolution sizes like 1280x1024_SoD_UI and 1024x768_SoD_UI.

One nuisance though is the default configurations on window positions would probably also need to be changed around to suit the custom ui as well granted technically players could manually do that part, but it'd be better having it default to the proper layout automatically if possible. I did include a file for the proper layout which you rename for your character and place in the EQ directory example Wiz_UI that has the correction windows positions from the screen shot.

I guess you can just try it out and let me know what you think and if you want to add the UI in somehow I'm sure there's some way we can figure out of doing it.

That's one of the problems with it currently is setup kinda dependent on resolution size it would still work as nice optional UI for players, but I'd keep the standard ui unless someone happens to know a way to scale it for different resolutions. It'd be nice to have a modifications forums section for SoD to talk about and submit different customizations to do with EQ like the UI, sound files, fonts, ect...pretty much anything along those lines. Wiz should hold a contest sometime for the best SoD customizations with different catagories like original artwork, sound work, presentation, ect...I wonder if it'd be possible to modify the graphics in EQ cause it'd be kinda cool seeing like blood red frogloks or poison green ratmen and that sorta thing.

Okay. Like I said, I plan to test it and possibly make some modifications before it would be used as the default - just asking your permission in case.
