Crash after server select

I'm having the same problem. Where do I find the logs that would help resolve this?

I'm a new player, and I'd like to be able to get on and play. :(
 
Before you start the game you should go into your dbg.txt and delete all the text in that file. Try logging in afterwards and than post all of your dbg.txt file here. Most of the stuff you need otherwise should be somewhere in this post a couple of pages ago, but thats the most important thing I think. You should also post the type of connection that you have. Anyways I hope your info can help us with this problem. I think Wiz is working on a fix, but he hasn't had any luck yet. Anyways thanks for your effort too.

Is there any progress on a solution for this? I haven't been able to log on at all recently, and it is becoming very frustrating. Has anybody had any successful methods for actually logging in?

Any comments would be appreciated.

I think Wiz was (is?) working on a fix, with no luck yet. He isn't really sure whats causing the problem, but I think he is still working on this. I just bump from time to time to see if anybody has any suggestions. All I can tell you is to hang in there. There are quite a few people having this problem so hopefully we can get a fix sooner rather than later, but until then hang tight. Its very frustrating at times, but meh, go out with some friends or something. Have faith in Wiz I am sure he will crack this problem sooner or later.

While this problem is beyond my scope of computer knowledge, I have found a solution that has worked for me atleast. I don't know why it worked, but simply using system restore to restore to a point prior to the date that SoD stoped connecting seemed to solve my problems. Hopefully it helps everybody else, and hopefully you can still restore to that point.

I have same problem, i am interested most in the message of type 5e, (i also get this) and that the dbg.txt files of people who have this problem gets stuck after "after create camera".

Also, it seems that when, and only when you get the 5e message, it skips loading the world and goes straight to creating it, since you cant create something from nothing, it crashes. Thats my theory anyways.

Also, sometimes it says "WorldAuthenticate. I got a message of type 5e..." and sometimes it says "ERROR: Unexpected message: 5e"
This time it said both... does the bug have a bug? Or is it truly random? Will we ever know?

Hope that helps solve questions... and bring up some new ones.
 
Nevermind, one friend was using a P2P program, and we are in a local net....
His comp was sucking all my broadband :mad:
 
yeah, when i click on play it gets to load as far as character equipment before telling me.....eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Doest seem to be the same issue as what i was reading but figured this is the place to post it. I am starting using the SoD patcher and no where else i read did i see info on how to fix this particular issue. hopefully it can be fixed easily cause i r comp illeterate hehe. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thx

I'm having this issue too, I think. I can get as far as selecting the server and clicking play game, then the game seems to minimize. About 30 seconds later the game looks like it relaunches itself and I'm staring at the connect dialog again. :(

I've patched and repatched and deleted and patched and downloaded over and patched, and still no dice. I really don't know what's going on. Can anyone help me out?

I have no firewall running, I'm not using eqw (it won't launch, dll error?) and I've got the latest patcher. I don't know if my dbg.txt will help - but here's from my last attempt and joining the game.

So what's going on? :(
 
It happens most frequently in American Prime Time, when servers are at their highest population. This makes people erroniously think that it is related to server population.

It also happens in low population times after a patch.

It happens any time more than a few people are trying to access character select at the same time.



I get in in three or four tries, usually.
 
This is happening all the time, not only during prime time hours. And I always try anywhere between 10-30 times per attempt to play and I am never able to get in. It might be related to what the previous poster said, but I am sure its also related to something else. Anyways, any more progress or mini fixes to try???
 
I'm not too sure...but for me, it sounds like a software problem....that it's not properly loading. And it's odd too. Becuase I can get it to work one day and then the next day when I try to play, there's a pop up when it's loading that says that it must close. It's like it doesn't like to work on even days....oh well.
 
Well I am not sure about a software problem, because when I take my laptop home I have no problem at all getting on, however when I am at school I cant get in at all. I still think it has to do with my connection but it might not be. Hope this gets fixed soon because it seems a lot more people are having the same problem.

I can connect using 28.8k dial up but not satellite....please help =)
 
Can Wiz or any of the other devs comment on this issue? I know where we stood last time but has there been any progress? Is it even a problem that can be fixed? Just seems like this is something that wont go away and its effecting alot of people. I know that its probably not at the top of the priority list with all of the new implementations but Im just wondering on the progress of it since its just really frustrating to never be able to play. Again thanks for your time and dedication wiz and crew.
