Combine Platemail Pauldrons

I did the turn in today to get my Combine Greaves and Combine Pauldrons, and I couldn't help but notice that the Combine upgrade to the pauldrons (shoulders) seemed a little weak. Granted, it's only a 1-gem upgrade, but I didn't expect to actually lose resists on the trade in (and 1 more AC made me lol). I would like to suggest, at the very least, retaining the same resists from the Ornate. A small AC boost might also help.

Here's the stats:

Ornate Stormforged Platemail Pauldrons:

AC: 19
STA: +8
HP: +35
Sv. Disease/Magic/Poison/Fire/Cold: + 10 ea.


Combine Platemail Pauldrons:

AC: 20
STR: +10 STA: +8 CHA: +5 WIS: +8 INT: +8 AGI: +5
HP: +75 Mana: +75
Sv. Disease/Magic/Poison: +10 ea.

AC: 36
Clickie Effect: Shield of the Combine
STR: + 10 DEX: + 8 STA: + 8 WIS: + 10 INT: + 10 AGI: + 8
HP: +120 Mana: + 120
Sv. Fire/Cold/Magic: +10 ea. Sv. Poison/Disease: + 5 ea.
 
You are gaining 40 more hp + 10 str 75 mana.

It seems pretty weak for tank but its a big upgrade from the other ones u had for just 1 gem.

If not all prison gear should be like this because the game is starting to look like live, The challengin raid zones that once was with 40 people now can be done with 10.

Prison gear as destroyed the rest of the raiding content.[/code]

Uh, no. The reason live is as it is now, is because they kept pumping out upgrade after upgrade. You won't be seeing a lot of prison quality loots flooding the server.
 
I was just saying if u look at all the other raid zones, Poair / pot then look at prison loot. It's like u have missed the middle bit somewhere. Lets face it the first few mobs in prison is not very hard for the loot it can drop and the puppet master as got to be one of the easyest mob in the whole prison place.


I've raided every zone in sod and there seems to be no middle loot.

Sepulcher and CoD seem to fit the bill. Also, PoAir has Sultan + Seduc + High Lady + Other new mob, Torment still has Twins and Warden.

Back when we had our legacy tag rip. Sepulcher and CoD we could not do untill we had a full tank in combind and lower prison full equiped out.

Prison if not inner prison should be a full capped raid. not be done with 25 people.
 
For most firsts in prison we have a capped full raid, but guess what, with the upgrades from that mob we can do it with less.
Server first Deyranni: 34? i think
Server first Gharntous: 33
Server first Farguziar: 33
All of these raids are pretty close to cap, and i doubt we could've done them with much less at the time.

I think both fetch and allie have points. Not all the loot should be better in every way. You do get mana hp ac cha agi wis/int and str but lose some resists. Its a fair request however in my opinion to ask that it be taken up a notch for the effort it does afterall require to obtain the item.

IMO add 3 ac.

Then again my opinion is just my opinion.
 
Shoulders are definately not one of the first things that will be made, in fact, its probably one of the rarest pieces for all combine. I think they should be a viable alternative to raid gear aquired in the lower tiers, and they really arent.
 
Shoulders are the easyest to get because they only need 1 gem it shouldnt be a massive upgrade.

IMO all combind needs to be tune down to make prison raids more challening to say prison stands as the hardest zone in sod.

Yes but very easy todo when u got full combind with the stats and ac they give and the gear getting up its like walk over its not a real challenge.

Prison armor was a bad idea they took the real challenge away from raiding, When u get in to inner prison nearly all the mobs drop a gem or 2 and they can be done with 12 people.

You cant realy make the gems rare now because too many people have them and it be unfair to the rest of the server.

When prison was made the raid encounter was 40 people but doing with less then 34 people takes the piss for the hardest zone in sod and will be for a long time.

So you are proposing...and end to progression? That would be pretty dumb.

Yes, when you are overequipped for something, it becomes pretty easy to do it. No, not even CLOSE to all the mobs drop a gem (more like a third).

You're exaggerating and you don't know what you're talking about.

Thats usually how things work... when you farm the shit out of a zone (ie. get full combine and the such) then the zone becomes easier. Same can be applied to DHK or just about any other zone...

Like Zodium said, the drop rate isnt quite that common. Also, did you forget how much time it took us to even get to Inner Prison, and then to be able to do it effectively? Only after farming outer prison many times were we even capable of Inner prison, and even at that point we needed a pretty full force to even do trash.

Its progression and its unavoidable. With non-prison gear, you need (nearly) a full force to accomplish things, however when you get fully prison geared you will be able to do it with less. Its impossible for a mob to always require a full force of people, because those people will eventually get upgrades and they'll be able to do it with less. Unless you're suggesting that loots be toned down, in which case they wont even be upgrades... mobs dont drop loot so that you'll have a hard time doing them again, they drop loot so that you'll be capable of doing the next teir of mobs, and as a result the current mobs become easier. Its how the game works, its how progression works.

Excuse me? IP trash mobs with 12? Maybe if you had 6 clerics, 1 bst, 1 warrior, and 4 full relic wizards.... and then it'd be iffy. When we first got into prison it was pretty common for us to lose 1/2 the raid force of 25ish on a single pull.
 
Back to the original post of Alli : it's only one gem, you got a lot of mana and stats, it 's just much better than combine, sorry for the resists but it's worth it. Maybe the staff just didn't intend to remove resists ?
 
I'm inclined to say that given the abundance of +HP/Mana and general lack of saves on items at that level of play, it ought to be redesigned with resists in mind á la the Ornate counterpart.
