Class Help

We tried to talk him into 2 boxing, but he is very opposed to it. I feel his pain, running 2 toons is a bit clunky when trying to crawl through a dungeon.

I hear that. DPS casters are way easier to hotkey. The type of setups I use when I'm being lazy and boxing a caster type class are:

hotkey 1
/target daffie
/follow

hotkey 2
/assist daffie
/pause x, /pet attack
/pause x, /cast x
/pause x, /cast x

Honestly this would be one of the setups i wish i had made

We area already feeling the pain of not having an enchanter. We actually end up having the cleric pacify pull, which leads to having the cleric low on mana most of the time.

I just box the cleric and main the SK. So alt tabbing and dropping heals is pretty stright forward. I recently stated to try and weave in some nukes when the SK can sustain himself, and toss out the occasional root to ease up on the damage intake. So far its a pretty easy box, but getting places is a pain in the ass .. try navigating through the Newport sewers with a box on follow lol!

When you get there, try to run through MielechB with a box on auto-follow (invis of course). :) Should be a GM Event. Racing through dungeons with someone on autofollow. Kind of like SoD sack races.

Multi tanking becomes the usual thing once you've leveled and made it to the 65 game.

In my opinion, when the monk isn't playing, you should be having the druid/bl guy do the CC instead of your cleric. Pull in 2 or 3, and have him root one on the pull while you are running to camp, and the other one when you start tanking (then just back up.) This eases up the burden of one guy doing all the work, and spreads the pull risk around to the group instead of on the cleric. He should be able to absorb a little damage on the BL and heal himself without much trouble, and if things really go wrong your SK can agro everything very easily and quickly.

Yup, root is an effective means of crowd control so do that.
Monk is a good addition to that group! Can do stupid leveling dps like the BST with +h2h mod and damage on gloves as well as the dps combo which probably wasn't ever fixed.
Are you aware of "Adventure Bands"? You can band all the characters together so if someone wants to play on their own everyone still levels together. Check out the wiki or "/cmd band help" (or something like that) for details.

What are the names of all these characters? I wouldn't mind looking them up to help if I find the time to log on.

I can also toss a few PP your way to help pay for spells. Additionally, if I am on I don't mind running a few treasure maps for you guys to get a little gear once you are of level.

I can also help sponsor some of these toons with little things here and there if we get some toon names :D

Thank you all for your assistance and guidance. We decided to go with the SK + Cleric and Bst + Druid. We also talked a friend into playing and he made a Monk.

That is a pretty solid setup. If your friend does end up choosing to 2box, you can't go wrong with a buffing class, because you will be loading it sooner or later. They may want to go with a mage or enchanter as the 2nd box, which is a great idea if you all play mostly together or share info. If you aren't going to be sharing info with each other, and they expect to be duoing quite a bit as well you may want to suggest they go with a shaman.

I was opposed to it way back as well, and after enough of having to do it for various reasons..it honestly feels weird and slow just running one character.

Agreed. Most classes are pretty boring on their own.

If the Monk friend ran an Enchanter box (doesn't even have to play it all the time- see "Adventure Bands") you would eventually have the JB/WoN/SB trifecta of mana regen buffs as well as the opportunity for him to get weird with mad pulling skills.

Just picked up another player, so we now have:

Me: SK + Cleric (yeah main tanking and main healing sucks balls)
Friend 1: Bst + Druid (those ports are stupid handy)
Friend 2: Monk (Monk DPS is so good with those combos in the early game!)
Friend 3: Bard (he is leveling up trying to catch us so we can add him to the adventure band ... Will be VERY nice to have a dedicated puller in the group)

Thanks everyone for all your assistance .. I still think an enchanter would have been better than a Monk, but beggars can not be choosers!

Very nice setup! Bard definitely rounds the group up well. Between bst/druid/bard that's a fair bit of mana regen.

But you may want to have the monk pull over the bard ;)

Yeah, this isn't live where some dev decided "lol f you monks, now bards can pull way better than you bc why not". Also, once the druid gets HoTs that should take considerable pressure off main tank/healing.
