This is currently a work in progress for the 12/20 quested mace for monks. Make sure you have in game maps downloaded and know how to use them because i'm going to make references to them.
The quest starts out in Eurdin. You ever here about that shark at the docks that is always killing newbies waiting for the boat? Kill that shark. He spawns somewhere out in the water straight out from the docks and swims back and forth underneath the dock and out into the ocean. Loot the shark tooth and hand it in to the guy further down the docks (not the one right on the docks...i'll replace the text with more accurate names). He hands you a blood pearl that is stackable and hints that you should see Umma in the armory (he calls it a smithy). I was level 58 when i did this and he was wayyy green. I think the shark is like level 20-25.
Here is Umma's quest text after handing in the blood pearl (you get it back btw):
[Tue Apr 12 02:49:19 2005] Logging to 'eqlog.txt' is now *ON*.
[Tue Apr 12 02:49:31 2005] Taking a screenshot...
[Tue Apr 12 02:49:39 2005] Umma Stonehammer says, 'Oh? Who told you I was looking for a blood pearl? I see... well, you see, the reason is... let me take this from the [start].'
[Tue Apr 12 02:49:39 2005] You recieve Blood Pearl from Umma Stonehammer.
[Tue Apr 12 02:49:43 2005] Darmok saved.
[Tue Apr 12 02:49:48 2005] You say, 'please start'
[Tue Apr 12 02:49:48 2005] Umma Stonehammer says, 'A little while back, studying some texts in the library, I came upon an old note about a weaponsmith who lived here in Erudin, Hanjal, and who forged what he named the "[Bloodletter]"... a powerful mace that carried the ability to inflict wounds that would not, according to this, heal naturally, and a person stun on one of the mace's spikes would eventually bleed to death if not cured...'
[Tue Apr 12 02:50:12 2005] You say, 'what is the bloodletter'
[Tue Apr 12 02:50:12 2005] Umma Stonehammer says, 'The text made some mentions regarding the forging process, and the entire business made me curious, so I studied into the matter, and I belive that I have managed to peice together the forging [process], except for a single part, where a blot of ink had covered the crucial section. As you might have guessed, a blood pearl was part of the components needed.'
[Tue Apr 12 02:50:25 2005] You say, 'what process'
[Tue Apr 12 02:50:25 2005] Umma Stonehammer says, 'I would need the [original mace], or whatever may remain of it - undoubtedly it has lost its powers by now - the aforementioned blood pearl, a block of what Hanjal called "twisted ore", and the original [forging scroll]. A nearly impossible task, indeed, especially for a simple merchant like myself! But, if this has piqued your intrest, and you somehow should come upon all these components, I would not mind forging the mace for you.'
[Tue Apr 12 02:50:53 2005] You say, 'what original mace'
[Tue Apr 12 02:50:53 2005] Umma Stonehammer says, 'All that is known is that Hanjal left Erudin one day with a small expedition set on exploring the cave systems of the Erudian Isle. He and the mace have been lost since.'
[Tue Apr 12 02:51:09 2005] You say, 'what twisted ore'
[Tue Apr 12 02:51:27 2005] You say, 'what forging scroll'
[Tue Apr 12 02:51:27 2005] Umma Stonehammer says, 'From what I heard, the forging scroll left Erudin in the hands of an adventurer who has determined to seek out the [original mace] in the depths of the goblin mines below our mountains. I belive her name was... Natasha, or something to the like.'
Natasha is a skeleton mob in Bancak Mines that will be indifferent to you. Bancak mines can be accessed by running through Warrens or by going through Faentharc woods. She is at location n1882, n1625. If you see a tunnel with rats then you are close. If you are looking at the map, she's just north of the Warrens zone line, on the East side of the map. Here's her quest text:
[Tue Apr 12 12:46:25 2005] You say, 'Hail, Natasha'
[Tue Apr 12 12:46:25 2005] Natasha stares at Darmok, the witchfires in its eyes burning.
[Tue Apr 12 12:46:29 2005] You say, 'what bloodletter'
[Tue Apr 12 12:46:30 2005] Natasha 's eyes flare green as it hisses, 'That cursed mace... that cursed quest... condemned by my own folly to this fate... you wish the forging scroll?' it laughs bitterly, 'Very well... but in return, you will do something for me. You will slay those who murdered me... the Bancak Master and his pet spider, Tshii! You will slay them, and bring me their hearts!'
Tshii is a drachnid that is located at n1117, p167 in bancak mines. This area is fairly easy to identify since it's a little alcove with spiders in it. If you look at your map, you will notice that all along the north end of the map, you'll see little alcoves. If you count them from right to left (heading west) starting at the entrance from Feantharc Woods, the 4th alcove that juts out to the north is where the spiders spawn. The respawn time in Bancak is 20 minutes. I fought Tshii with 15hp regen, 35hp damage shield and that's it. I was 58 at the time. She was light blue to me and didn't give me many problems. She dropped the resurrection net which is also used for the recovery iii belt quest out of Wyvernfang Coast.
The Bancak Master is Master Kalko. He's a Bancak (or Burynai from live). If you look at the map, he's far west as you can go, in the hidden pool. You get to it by swimming in the tunnel under the water. You will see 5 spawns around the pool. The 3rd from teh left or 2nd from the right is Kalko's place holder. At this point I had rebuffed and took him out really quick. I think he is easier than Tshii.
Here is a quick and dirty version of the quest. No locations or anything:
here is a link to a quick and very undetailed walkthrough:
as of today (4/13/2005), crystal caverns is not accessable. therefore i'm not sure where to get the channeling gem. will update as soon as zone comes back online or a gm announces where they moved the drops to. I am still working on the bloodmace. I went to the wrong dang house the first time I was down there. Probably could have had my first mace by now. Oh well. I'll post more as I find out.
(04/17/2005) sorry for the delay on the first ruins part. injektilo was willing to help me with that but i was pulled off to do something else. all it would take is a quick invis to undead and i think a 60 monk/shaman duo woudl rip it up. anyway, i'll get back to this guide when i get my mace.
(05/26/2005) i recently landed a job in Baton Rouge so I am still in the process of moving and getting settled in. i've decided to abandon this quest as it is wayyy to involved in terms of risk vs. reward in my opinion (let me repeat that....IN MY OPINION). one of the items needed comes off an oddly named scarab mob in DN. at level 64 duoing with a 63 shaman i could not take him out as he hits pretty hard. this scarab can be found inside the gates just as you come out into the open area. there is a little broken building with bones inside that has a scarab there. if the oddly named one isn't up it will be it's placeholder (from what i've seen).
getting the blood mace is definately the defining point in the quest. it would have been cool if i had this mace from say 55-60. after that, i'm just a big hound on superior dps. maybe one of these days if i have better gear and some aa's i'll go back and see if it's duoable then. either way, i hope this guide provides some use to those who can complete it.
