Blacksmithing needs a looking at.

I think 5pp is too low, but a price drop is probably in order on the dust.

Thanks for lowering the Rare Mineral Dust price by half!

I do however think the armour still needs a touch of tweaking in the stats, hp, mana or resists department to make it a viable alternative to similarly priced dropped armour. I think the AC is right on for the plate and chain. It is just many other items that typically sell in the 250 - 1000pp range offer better stats for only slightly (read: 2-3 points) less AC.

I will try to work up a list of examples but it is hard to nail down a price range due to the fact that dropped items have no inherent "cost of goods" other then the time invested and the difficulty of obtaining them.

EDIT:
After further thought the idea of adding a second augment slot to all player crafted items is more appealing then just upping the base stats of the items. This would allow classes to customize their warpmetal or ghostmetal armour more to their specific needs. Maybe a warrior wants to add 2ac augs or 1ac and 1hp, or an SK wants some cha and some ac. It would definitely make the armour on par with dropped items and create more demand for disposable TS items (read: augments).

Well if you consider, even tailors have to skill up on lots of armor (Wyvernhide, etc) that don't really get used so much. Perhaps having a few smithed items analogous to the Robe of Flowing Water // Mantle of the Forest would help smiths that achieve greatness to recoup some of their costs.

I expect you'd find people putting in two of the same augment in most cases.

What? A little more detail than that would be helpful.

there is like 200 posts about it.. need a complet revamp on it..
yesterday just burned 2k and 100 combines to get me from 202 to 203...

There is a revamp in the works. Please don't post things like this in someone elses suggestion thread.

Since this was buried in the Mantle of the Forest Overpowered thread, and it has a huge impact on smithing, I thought I'd quote it here:

Here is what is going to happen:

- Mantle of the forest will be knocked down 25 mana at its base.
- Molten Core will have its gem components knocked off.
- Molten Core and Violet Ointment will both have components with a 1,000pp+ cost added to them.

Since I don't think anyone is debating the overpoweredness of ghostmetal or wyvernhide, ramping up the production costs should force the prices up to a point where the effort is comparable with the reward.
