Best Class for SoD?

TwitchyHamster

Dalayan Beginner
Greetings,

I have recently found SoD and I am very much in love with it! Can I please get some suggestions as to a good class to start off with? Traditionally I played Bard, Enchanter and Druid in the past so I am open to re-playing one of those if they are needed or any other class out there.

What I am ultimately seeking is a class that will be welcomed in groups as I would like to make some new friends here and have a good time while doing "my part" for the community.

Thanks in advance!

Bards and Enchanters are both very much in demand, Druids however are a dime a dozen (although still very useful in groups IMHO).

Aye, bards are very much in demand at the moment. Although you will find that they are very different here than live, wich is most likely the main reason for the shortage.

Enchanter would be the easiest to find groups with, but if i was you I would try each class and see wich one grabbed you. Groups and friends can be gotten no matter what class you are, so play what you find fun.

I enjoy playing my 3 characters a lot:

Dark Elf ShadowKnight
Gnomish Warrior
Half-Elven Bard

I find it hard to decide which to log on with sometimes :( All I did was decide to play something i've never played before (i'm usually a pure caster), and I have had mroe fun here on SoD than I ever did on live. I was going to buy WoW, but it looks like SoD has delayed, if not killed that desire.

Don't buy WoW... i played it for a few months, its all fine and dandy - there are tons of people playing which is good, but the game just lacks that little something to keep you hooked after the awe factor is gone. i have a friend whom has been max lvl for quite some time, and only logs in to wonder around because he has nothing else to do, he is just waiting for the expansion so there is more for him...

I strongly stand against WoW.

Thanks for the responses and suggestions!

And I made this thread so that I wouldn't go off and create a class that people wouldn't need. =)

Thanks again!

Because Everybody compares the new up and coming monk/shammy combos to You, Zhak. People just can't handle the stress of always being second class, next to you :D

Cross posted from a similiar thread.

As for class balance these days, judging by /who all s which I take from time to time when I am bored, the class numbers run something like this: highest number of to lowest number of

shaman
magician
druid
enchanter
monk
cleric
ranger
warrior
shadow knight
wizard
beastlord
rogue
necromancer
bard
paladin

Does not include ANONs and Roleplayers of course. The numbers aren't too far apart except for bards and paladins which are quite lower than any other class. Bards likely because their songs loop a horribly irritating conjuration sound and lightshow (and most players like to play with spell effects/sounds on) and paladins because, well, ah...virtue is in decline these days perhaps?

Id say most in demand for group needs are clerics followed by warriors.

druids are a dime a dozen.. good druids aren't.

but thats the same with every class

druid soloing is mindless its in a group in hard areas that makes a druid (if main healer) :p

There's more to do in WoW at level 60 than there is to do in EQ...

1) Raid and get items
2) PVP grind (preferably by sharing your account or else you'll never make rank 13+) and items
3) ?? and get items
4) ???
