New player to SoD here, just wanted to say that im very impressed with it all so far and think ill be stickin around for some time. Here comes da 'but' thou, a little disappointed with what ive come to understand are recent changes to my favorite class the 'Bard.' The new melody system of auto-twistin, cant say that im a fan of that and would much rather do my own twisting. The auto-twist is actually so annoying for me that im actually rerolling out of my bard... :( Just wanted to weigh in with my opinion and encourage other bards to post here as well with their thoughts on the subject. Other than that, again, very good work being done around here and im lookin forward to gettin to take a good look around and meet everyone.

-Dizz.. ex-Bard?

I made my bard just recently and I have to say that the auto-twisting thing is a breathe of fresh air. I played a bard on live for about 20 levels until I got sick of never having any down-time to maintain songs. There are acouple of complaints I have, but I think its better than live's bard.

I played a bard since 2001 lvl 65 on live and 56 on SoD. Many current bards feel the changes are an 'encumberance' to say the least. It takes getting used to as well as needs problems with the core mechanics of it looked at. You can join the union of inactive bards if you like.

There are many threads on this already, so do a search before posting.

While it is true the the class is NOT the same class it is on live, Wiz is dedicated to balanced classes and if there ARE serious balance issues due to the differences, they WILL be addressed. Of course, Wiz needs to be informed of serious problems so they CAN be addressed. (A good example of this is the recent damage increase on DoTs: Thanks Wiz!)

Or, you can just join the "union of inactive bards" and leave all the bardic fun to me :) I am still enjoying my bard, even if it is different.

So are we able to twist two beneficial spells and two detrimental spells at the same time? Or choose to do either benni or detri?

Many bards, myself very much included, were very opposed to the changes wiz and team made.

That being said, I haven't played the bard in awhile but have seen some good things in patches and on the forums lately concerning bards and the fact that the team is working very hard on getting them fixed. GO! my favorite programing team! GO!

Anyways, I'm actually thinking about trying out the bard again and maybe doing some bug hunting for the dudes at the top. Hell, I might even remove the cripple title from Puella.

If you are going to play a bard, I suggest doing so with an open mind and willingness to learn, as nearly all the stuff you may have learned on live probably doesnt apply at all here. That, and there are still some bugs in the new changes. But with more people going back to playing bards, these problems will most likely be worked out in the near future.

I don't think the people don't like the change in the way the characters are played but the usefullness of the bards after the change. right after the change they became a thief with a couple spells and bad fighting. I am not sure if things have changed because i haven't really played since the change but at the time i wouldn't have wanted a bard taking up extra space in my group.
