Archery Mod Items

Hi All,

With the recent removal of Thaz, there is a lack of items with +archery modifier. The Ranger Thaz BP and Gloves both had +10 to archery each and were used by rangers almost indefinitely. I would like to suggest that an archery mod is added to a couple other items around this tier to make up for the loss of Ranger Thaz armor. There are very few items I can think of with archery mods comparable to the ranger thaz pieces. I understand that this armor may have been "overpowered" for the ease to obtain but I still think that there should be more options available for a ranger to reach the archery cap at this tier. One suggestion would be to add archery mods to items that may not be the "ideal" gear for that slot. This might make some perpetual rotted items actually useful while still being balanced.

Basically I am extremely jealous of all rangers that have thaz armor.
 
I mean that is one solution but should a player be required to get refuge faction in order to get a +archery mod? What is the problem with having some on-tier alternatives to the refuge augs for getting this skill mod?

Yeah Anos' BP could be used for +5 backstab. His difficulty is honestly harder than LT water boss was anyways. Also his dagger should have more than 95 HP. Maybe bump it up to 125.

Eternal Feather from ToT could be given a greater archery mod possibly maybe to +7. The chain BP from IP could be given a +5 or 8 archery mod.

I definitely support the Icegouge buff/rework.

Patriarch, Sword of the Ruler could be given a +5 or 10 archery mod.
 
I was going to look through some items later to suggest some that should maybe have +archery mods. Looking through some though, it seems like there are an awful lot of +crit mod items. I mean I haven't ever actively looked for crit mod items and my Ranger (Smashley) is sitting at 14% right now which is 4 over cap. To be more balanced maybe we could remove crit mods from 1 or 2 items and add +archery. I know that archery is pretty specific to one class but I don't think I have ever heard of any class having problems getting max crit.
 
At certain points in the tiers it gets pretty rough. Having those extra crit %s can really give you breathing room on itemization. You'd think the same thing with worn atk but much to Zaela's astonishment, I ran a whole like 2 or 3 tiers worth of content AT the 150 mark. In fact I just peeked, and the #2 rogue on top 5 indeed has exactly 150 worn atk.

I could be off on my timeline a bit but I think it was mid to late ToT and post-IP before I could stop calling dibs on loot to cap crit %

(Also be VERY careful what you ask for, nobody wants super flying kick riposte boots that make you DT yourself)
 
I had planned on doing Tinkering and making recipes for type 4 augs like gnomish laser scope which would yield +archery, just no time.
 
Just a wild thought.. on some of the items with either +archery or +backstab, add the other mod also (+backstab and +archery on the same item), and make Rangers and Rogues fight over it?
 
Fight nothin! This lil rogue skilled his archery up from start to rogue-max with 15 dmg arrows pew pew pew pew

I don't know if an item can have two skill mobs but even if it can chances are only one will display plus that is just dumbing down gear choices. Really it is a player brain problem to consider skill mods mandatory instead of bonuses.
 
Not sure what ya mean by bonuses. Are you talking about like +%crit?

He means that you should not assume that you NEED those skillmods and have a god-given right to get catered to those imaginary needs, but instead consider them as a nice bonus on top of the item(s) you have.

Also, just pointing out that there are bounty augs with skillmods. And they even fit in the seeds obtainable there as well!

Tinkered augs would be sweet. Plus gnomish laser scope sounds like the best item ever. I am now sad that there is nobody able to work on this.

I don't think I implied anywhere that I have a god-given right to these mods. I simply noted a gap that was created after the removal of Thaz and didn't feel like the spirit of the Thaz removal was to make the +archery mod more scarce. Was Thaz gear too good? Yah I'll agree to that but I don't think the +archery mods is what made it too good.

Also, this mod is a huge boost to rangers at these tiers and I don't think it is unreasonable for these mods to be available on items of this tier. Please let me know if I am wrong.
 
There's never been many archery mod items available, and the removal of Thaz certainly compounds it. The easiest solution would probably be to make +backstab mod items double as +archery mod items, as was suggested above. After all, rangers and rogues pretty much use all of the same gear anyway.

I've also never liked the +7, +3, +12 archery mods that are out there, since with so few options available, relying on any of these items means that you're always either under or over the cap. I used the Tier 3 archery bracer from DHK until Tier 10, and I was at 27 archery the whole time as a result. Just a few more available options would give more viability to any archery mod that's not divisible by 5.
 
Was Thaz gear too good? Yah I'll agree to that but I don't think the +archery mods is what made it too good.

Archery mods made thaz gear the end all be all for archery mods from T8-T11, that is too good in my opinion. Double that with healing VI on the gloves which is super convenient and you don't replace those till Abyss or you aug your gear with +archery.
