NOT DONATING *EVER*
Accounts are being limited to one character played at a time - logging in a different character will kick any characters playing on that account off, for a multitude of reasons.

So that people who previously played two chars from the same account don't effectively lose a character, all characters created before September 8th will have a chance to move to an account created after September 8th - so you have to create a new account to move your old character to, effectively.

You do this by going ingame and typing /cm movelog <name of account you want this character moved to>. The request is recorded, and will then be checked and processed by staff. Movelog can only be used once for any single character, and will be available for a couple months or so after the change.

Note that anyone trying to abuse this to sell characters in any form, including for in-game items or currency, will have all their accounts banned from the server.

Hi, I just tried using /cm movelog and was given the following error:

'Command movelog not recognized.'

So then I tried /movelog and got this:

If you wish to have all of your characters permanently moved to a less crowded server, type '/movelog yes' (without the quotes)

Am I just being thick or is this not working at the moment?

Thanks

Will there be a limit to how many total accounts a player can have when this goes in?
I believe the max atm is 3, if I remember correctly.

There is an EQ Emu rule that states you can only have 3 accounts per email. From what I understand we did away with that limitation not too long ago.

ahh, Danke.
:keke:
I see that I need to catch up on a few more things that have happened since I was away..

- - -Even if there isn't an account limit, wouldn't getting an account for each char be too abusive? If not, I'm gonna have to create a nice bunch of them :haw:

Some characters will naturally not group together. What I have done to arrange mine is tanks in one accnt, Int DPS in another, Support staff in another. Broke down nicely into sets that way.

=)

I originally thought I was being smart by doing the same thing on my three accounts, and divided my toons down by dps, healers and melees, only to find myself boxing a cleric and aadruid and crashing every time I zoned.

Thanks Wiz, now I can seaparate them!

I just created a new account, logged into that account successfully, then logged into an existing account, existing character and typed:

/cm movelog newacctname

(newacctname is of course the name of the new account I just created) and got:

Account does not exist or account was not created after September 8th

I created the account name with mixed case, and tried the command both with the exact case I used, as well as all lowercase and all uppercase.

I had the same problem guiardo, until i created a character on the new account. Then when you try /cm movelog newacctname on the old character it should accept it. I imagine it doesn't think an account exists if there are no characters on it

This solved it, thanks Balamor! Just logging in to Character select did not do it for me. I had to create a character (but not log in), and then it worked fine.

Thanks!

Since we can no longer play 2 toons on the same account simultaneously, could subscriptions be associated with multiple accounts? Maybe just for those accounts that existing donator toons are moved to, to prevent abuse?

Is there any way this could all be entirely automated?
Limit it to 1 character per account, with acct name = character name?

Run some kind of script that would see:
Bob, Fred, and Jill all on one account with the password 'password'
Script spits out three accts bob/password, fred/password, jill/password, then deletes the original acct?
