Adepts

I am not sure I would want it changed anyways.. I was just pointing out what I observed. Such a drastic change (even if it were possible) would need to be heavily discussed. Because seeing content get more use would be nice, but it could really unbalance a whole lot of other stuff.

I don't think it would unbalance anything because of the high amount of EXP needed to access the better AAs. Having the ability at 41 would definitely make you powerful, but that wouldn't really change much in the scheme of things considering dumping 80k on a twink goes a longer way.

Welll, the thought being the general aa's would be all that would be available that early. So, it would affect stats and resists only, really. I really don't think that would change all that much, twink gear is far worse for that, as you pointed out.

The problem with a de-level option, is that you will get a bunch of higher levels de-leveling just to lock down certain adepts for specific loots. The hexdoll comes to mind as one of those cherished loots.

A small price to pay for letting more people see the content who otherwise wouldn't. To those of you who lose sleep over this please punch yourself in the groin and update your livejournal. Stuff. Gets. Camped. By this logic the devs shouldn't add any more new content cause the bored 65 high tiers will ruin everything.

If you want to try to balance it for such a way that higher level people could join in, you could have an NPC near the Adept sell you a NO RENT set of gear that you would have to use in order to engage the Adept above its normal engage level.

Prolly easiest way to tackle the ringer issue. Just have one set for all adepts that are coded match the appropriate level range upon engage... or even coded to have certain stats in certain zones since there are not any adepts that share the same zone. Might be easier.

Lowering it to 6 players would just take too much time to rebalance, and would DE_STROY the whole purpose of adepts in the first place.

Yup.

Its not really about fixing something broken. Its making it more accessible- Devs put hard work into these Adepts, the least we can do is fight their creations. Thus making [them] more [a]ccessible.

Pretty much the core of the proposal for the changes I proposed in the original post.

Sounds like a hell of allot of work for very little reward.

Sounds like you just described this game.

I'd like adept respawn time lowered.

I don't think finding the people is that much of an issue. If it is there's always making a post to try to get some names of like-minded people together.

That brings up an interesting question... is it possible to change the level requirements on the general AAs? or remove the limitation at all? (and the follow up question, is it even a good idea?)

Gains from leveling up will always be better than 2 points in strength, but it might give more of an incentive to kill an adept for an item you want.

That isn't necessarily true. I'm not sure what's used to navigate the DB and such, however at least in 3.0, if you access it with Navicat there should be a table that dictates required levels for AAs.

If the table "aa_required_level_cost" it will look like this.

In game you can see the AA cost of skills are still default. I know this isn't an SoD like server, but I mean, I am sure people can understand I just don't have a spare SoD clone laying around.

Now in your table, just change the required level for AAs to whatever you want. I will just use level 1 for simplicity sake.

Now after a quick server reboot, you go ahead and log in to see the results.

As I mentioned, I don't know how SoD is built up and stuff. This is all on a "newer" client. So as it is now, it may be impossible. In the future however... wheeeeee!

*EDIT*

Sorry for the awful picture quality. Didn't know they'd be so small when I posted them.

This client is ancient and supports none of that. All of the AAs are fixed at what you see in the window. The client will also not unlock the ability to spend experience on AA exp until you hit level 51; the option is grayed out until then. I'm excited for 3.0 also, but the question seemed to be about current things.

Yea, I was just curious about the current state but it is cool to see what may be possible in the future. Thanks, Vitali.

I think lowering respawn is the way to go too.

The real issue is finding a lot of people online, so when it happens, if the adepts are up more often, chances are they will be killed more often...!
