Hi, I just started WR earlier today and am really interested in it. Everything is working perfectly except that everytime I try to zone the game ends up hanging and I have to open up task manager to kill EQ.

Any solutions to this problem? My bro is running the same install on basically the same computer right next to me and is getting 5 sec zone times so I have no idea why this is not working for me. :(

I have noticed this frequently happens on my AMD based laptop but not my Intel based desktop. Maybe it's an AMD thing? A laptop thing? A mobile video card thing? The only way to know for sure is for everyone to post their system stats and look for commonalities like they do in the tech support forum on live.

This also happens to me, all the time actually. Whenever I zone I know I have to load up Task Manager ;(

Happens occasionally to me, but its usually when I switch focus to another program while I wait to zone. If I keep focus on EQW, then I never lock up. And even then it isnt really locking up persay, but more just ld'ing and heading back to server select.

Well so far I've zoned about 10 times, and have only succesfully zoned once (Newport -> Centuar hills). Also I have never succesfully zoned when dying.

I don't know what's wrong :sadf:

I've tried both in EQWindows and in regular client

sometimes you just get a bad file or 2, re-install EQ and patch to live, then re-install the files.zip, 90% of the time that fixes these problems. just make sure you save your character ini files, so u dont lose your hotbuttons and such

Okay, a couple things.

I'm running windows 2000, dunno if thats the cause. Also I just downloaded the patcher to install EQ, but this time I'm installing from Luclin and then patching.

I'll test it in both EQW, and just normal client.

It's twice as bad for me because I am a PK and therefore die alot, which isnt so bad If I could zone. I hope this gets fixed this time around. :sadf:

Will keep ya updated!

do you have all service packs/.windows updates installed? and updated drivers for vid card and such?

You are behind a router. Either try disable DHCP on your computer and assign a static IP adress, or if you already have, try the other way. I had/have this problem too.

Bingo, I will try this. Tanks

Actually I know nothing about computers ;( All I know is that my broadcasted IP has been the same for like 5 years, but I think it may be a proxy I connect to. /sigh

I am having similar problems. When I zone from Greenmist to Stingers I get nothing...No loading even, it just freezes. It happened in a few other spots too...Only place I can zone without locking up is from Grobb or into Grobb.

I installed the netfx thing. I did the newest files set and installed it. I looked for the wrpatch.exe but can't find it. the file in my EQ folder anywhere. Am ready to pull out my hair.

Updated everything...drivers, windows, etc...
AMD athlon XP processor, ati 9800

System is good all around, just started locking up since the server was down.

thanks in advance for the assist

Yeah, I don't understand it either. I quit playing because I have to end EQ so often while zoning. I've done it with dynamic and static IPs. I use optical wiring for my Internet. I'm updated and quite stable on my O/S. Only thing I can figure is I'm on a wireless LAN, but still my connection is great.

I've even had the same problems on like 3 different computers whether on routers or not and on 3 different Internet service providers, so I don't know. I've always had the problem.

I also know some others people rarely or never have it.

I get this occasionally. By that I mean a few times a week. It's irritating, but at least it doesn't happen all the time. I am behind a router, and have the ports forwarded I was told I would need for EQ. Does SoD use the same ports as Live? I have an Intel cpu, btw. I'm not really worried about finding a fix for myself, but I just wanted to let people who thought it might be an AMD problem know it's not just AMD.
