Zone crashes more frequent?

It seems like zone crashes (particularly when raiding) have been much more frequent lately (past month or so?) -- not sure if devs are aware of them, wanted to point it out.. (zones seem to be crashing like 2-3 times per raid, various zones so doesn't seem to be specific to an encounter or anything)

Raiding without scripted weapons does seem to improve the zone crashing quite a bit. Though sometimes zones seem to crash for no reason as well (sitting and medding and the zone just randomly crashes --- seen this happen in prison a few times)

Difficult to say for sure but my guess is: Screamblade, Bard Lute, Mimic Stick are among the prime culprits

many crashes are caused by memory allocation issues with the client. windows only allocates the game 2GB of ram regardless of how much you have. if you are hitting around 1.8GB of ram usage from the client this is likely part of what is happening. this would be made worse the more models the game loads. also the game doesn't seem to unload models when they are no longer needed so they build up in a cache until they overwhelm the memory limit. The game actually does have access to more models than will fit in the 2GB limit. This problem is addressed in higher versions of the client but not our current one. A patch does exist that helps with this but there are very legitimate reasons it was not implemented.

Another thing I have heard helps is turning off logs.

that's client crash, we're talking about zone crashes -- different thing here, where the entire zone crashes (everyone in the zone loses connection / needs to reconnect)
