Zone Connection Map - in the works

Newport should be more to the north, the North should be much bigger and differently formed, Lake Starfall should be smack middle in the continent... I'd really need to draw a map.

Thank you for error fixes all.

I can flex the land into any shape I wish, but id rather shape it to the lore. Please give me a hint to what shape the north looks like. Bigger in the NW? Bigger in the N? Bigger in the NE? More N, NE, NW? There are no limits to what I can do with this map. INPUT greatly needed.
- lake starfalls current location was bugging me. Thank you wiz!

- Ill fix newport also. More north as in....where centaur hills zone label is?

------------------

For the NW winter section of the map.
I basically took a zone connection map and placed it geographically by how that map was layed out. The NE section is just so cluttered.

Fay is half done.

-------------------

- moved Newport more to the north.
- relocated Lake Starfall more to the center of the map.

Feedback? Corrections? Thank you!

Looking good , looking nice !
Its nice to see the world layout.

But it reminds me to much about WoW map , think ill stick with this map.

Im using that map deria for zone connection reference. I like it since it has mob difficulty color system. Very handy.

What I'm doing is for fun. I always loved maps..... and seeing the zones layed out on an old eq map gives me some sense of direction and RP value.

Updated the maps. Thank you guys!

Very good job on this map ! of course the previous connection maps were made with many useful informations in mind, and complete connections. It is great, but I think newcomers also need more of a geographical approach to the game.

This map, although not listing mob range & co, is incredibly useful for newbs in my opinion since it shows (roughly) the global layout of the world. Of course it's limited as far as accuracy is concerned but the initial map (made for Live) was already wrong : all zones didn't look like showed AT ALL. And in SoD which is supposed to be considerably different in terms of lore, it's understandable that it's incorrect, that's the limitation of having a preexistent map. But I wouldn't dare asking for someone to draw an entire map totally on par with what Wiz has in mind, other than to Wiz himself. And I don't think he has time for it :) so good job and keep improving it, I'm sure it's useful for many players who are lost with the considerable amount of zones in the server for traveling purpose ; they can just check out the mob range, portals, banks and so on on the other map.

Other than that the main problem, as listed above, is the north :
- it's too crowded, so if you could photoshop the ice to look much larger ? maybe also put Faentharc north of EF, with a grass layout;
- otherwise put GD at the west of EW, Sorc Lab at the west of GD, Frosthorn at the east of EW (mainly I suggest placing more stuf at the NE part of the Northlands) ;
- using yellow arrows for Prison (cause one could really think it's in the grass :p) as well as DN and maybe others (didn't get the logic of the yellow arrows, is it subterranean areas or just dungeons ?);
- put water between the north and Red sun peaks, cause it sounds like they're neighbours :s maybe really making the eastern part of the north (Frosthorn) considerably higher than Red Sun Peaks, I guess.

For the southern part, I think the area with Shadowdale/ plaguelands needs a look at (and Pshop edit :p ) as well as Cyrtho (looks like east of Starfall). Put lots of mountains to seperate areas not connected (I think of Starfall / Desert of Tarhyl mainly). Globally it needs to be much larger too IMO, or make desert thinner. Many ways of reflecting the game better, but that depends on your photo editing skills :)

That's all my suggestions about the main continent. New World looks cool, just put a boat arrow to FP I guess (same in the other map with an arrow FP>GSM , and a NP>Erudin). Sundered Moutains shouldn't be there but like off SW of Tarhyl, and maybe you could do a much higher than larger island, and put a small ice part with a settlement to the north of it ? not a big thing though. Maybe also replacing the desert area around Grobb with jungle layout (can't suggest anything about that except taking scattered forest like Greenmist's)

I guess you're gonna come up soon with Erudian Isles, I'm looking forward to it !

Dzillon, everything you have posted has been copy/pasted for future reference. The yellow arrows indicated a one way. The detailed zone connection map listed these zones as a one way street when entering them. The map fails to reveal how you leave the zone. :)

The only question I have before I reconstruct the entire main continent is.........I guess this is for the lore keepers......What shape is the main continent? Just a bigger NW winter land?

I know at the moment the map is lacking specific details on zones. I havent even visited half of those places. :( I lack experience in travel. Im a newb to this world. :)

If you place this map side by side with the detailed zone connection maps you will see the lay out is similar. I pretty much used the detailed zone connection maps for location purposes.

I guess you can only rely on the size of the zones , hence the need to visit all of them (outdoor mainly).
My guess is the north is much bigger and "centered" around Faentharc , with WW being the main zone in NW and EW (extending with Frosthorn making it a bit bigger in NE. The problem I see is where to put WW precisely since WFC attainable from a portal in Fantharc (how far would be WW from Fae I mean) ; and moreover where to put GD , my guess is just north of Faentharc, separated by big fat mountians :p
I'd like to draw some quick stuff on a paper and scan it then submit, see if it fits Wiz better, but I'm really a sucker in everything related to a pen (writing, drawing , even backstabbing with a pen is hard for me). More to come.

Just a guess to clarifiy it a bit and get a bit more room for the north:

Can't you take the RSP part and connected a bit more east to Darkwoods so you can use all "upper" space of the map for the north?
Connected to that I am not sure if this really works but if you want to put in some information about the zone difficulty, can't you just color the white names of the zones like the colors are at the other connection map and at an explanation?

According to dungeons: Use yellow lines for dungeons and yellow arrows for one way zones (DHK for example of Towers of Agony).

However those are just some ideas that came to my mind, otherwise great work :)
