Lol, are you kidding? You joined, what, February 25th 2005? You are the increase in population buddy

Also, % of misses seriously doesn't matter, DPS does.

It doesn't matter? Yes it does. It may not technically not matter, but you truly have to remember it's about the fun man, no one wants to miss 100 times to hit once really hard. It's not the comparision of a paladin with 2hs and a monk with batons, it's the comparision between hitting and missing.

I don't often post since I haven't played for a while and quite frankly I don't have a right to voice an opinion, but I felt I needed to step in here. But on the other hand I am going to house in Oregon with EQEmulator this summer and I am going to to play Winter's Roar 24/7 /drool I miss staying up over night playing EverQuest.

Melees miss just as much, you just notice ranged misses more because each one costs an arrow :p

Personally I'd rather have 4 or 9 misses and then that big 200 or 300 hit. It makes me feel deadly.

Ok, ok, February 25th was my birthday (ya i know kinda weird) But people can not say that they hate the increase of the population if they barely joined. They should be happy on what the amount of people are on right now because a lot later we will probably go over 400's. Who knows? So until you were one of the earlier players, you can't really say anything about the increase of population. So get ready for the future. =)
Just my 2cents

I believe Wiz's point is that your DPS (actual damage per second) is what matters. I.E. you may miss a lot but it's when you hit and for how much that counts. You want to miss a lot? Play my lvl 65 max haste dual wielding monk on EQLlive. Turn on the misses text and fight yellow/white (and blue for that matter) mobs...that will put your misses to shame. It is your actual DPS that determins your effectiveness in battle, not the ammount of misses, which is a crap way of judging your fighting.

Yes. We are definitely talking about a 100:1 miss ratio here. Thanks for grasping all the nuances of the topic.

Because that is exactly what I meant, there was absolutely no exaggeration so you could understand what I meant...this was a serious post, if you want me to go into details, fine. It is more fun to hit in a series of attacks of:
40 miss 40 40 40 miss

instead of

miss miss miss miss miss 160

I mean absolutely no disrespect, on the other hand, I believe as an administrator/creator you should get respect with constructive feedback, and use the feedback in a positive mannar, but not insult the others intelligence.

Not bragging or anything here, but I volunteer (As in put my time and effort into it and get nothing but gratitude back, as you do, very well might I say) down at a food bank downtown. I work with quite a few people who are worse then people who wander these boards, I have never insulted ones intelligence because they came in.

Sigh I love any EverQuest boards, now I have to go back through and check for misspellings so I don't get flamed for those.

But truly, I am not here to antagonize you Wiz, and I do offer my respect.

Tidien, from what I have seen, the mobs miss just as much... somethign to keep in mind.

you were also fighting something that is very well known to be tough to non-casters.. /shrug

You still don't get it. We're not talking about 80% or 99% misses or anything like that. We're talking about maybe 50%.

Somebody parsed my rogue on Live, she was doing really wicked damage despite missing well over 40% of the time.

I would recommend turning My Misses filter on, or relegate battle spam to a small window that you never watch... It did a lot for my self confidence :)

No, I do get it. The thing is, I was talking about in general, hits are more fun then misses. 50% is just dandy, I get it, I understand it, I comprehend the situation. But your post was just a general statement, therefore, I made a general statement, both of which applied.

And hitting harder is more fun than hitting softer. In order to maintain current damage output, in order for hit % to go up, damage must go down. If for some crazy reason they were to do that - why is it that I suspect people would be in here complaining to no end that they don't hit as hard even though DPS is the same?

I do believe the vast majority of people focus more on hitting harder than the do hitting more often. Because as the text scrolls by, the next max hit is going to be the number your most likely to remember.

Your right, definitely. It certainly is a long and complicated matter. Well anyways, I am sure Wiz has got a perfect combination in the system, either way, I don't feel like risking my WR fun because of me talking, I will go back to my zero posts a day lol, forums just get me in trouble, I voice my opinion no matter what/who/where the situation is, so I try to avoid any and all forums lol. Anyways, this whole post has got me thinking about Everquest more and more, back to daydreaming.
