Ok Folks. This is a community request for input regarding a WR Allaz.

I'd like any suggestions you have as well as help with

The name
Art
Possible Scripting
Features

Most likely the site will be a .net site as that's what I'm familiar with. I plan to run a simple db file rather than an active db to keep my hosting costs low.

The current name I'm thinking of is WR Info.
The features I have planned are:
An all levels hunting guide chart
An item look up / browse
A quest look up / browse

Later after the initial population, I will need help via submissions. As stated in a previous post, much like allaz, I intend to have a public section with limited resources and a private session. Yes, people can submit info but just like the real allaz, it doesn't get you anything but a tag on the image. You still have to pay for premium access. HOWEVER, I won't be collecting any funds. There will be some sort of check to see if you are a SUBSCRIBED supporter of WR. One timers don't count.
 
O.K. I really love this idea, and if needed, I would even love to help, however I have a few sugestions for you, having tried a few massive endeavers myself...

First off, I would try to keep it simple, at least from the beggining. I have no idea exactly what you plan to do, or how extensive you would like to go, but something as simple as search feature, zone list, mob hp, loot, picture, etc is enough. I dont know if you plan to go into detail with mob spells and things like "how much dmg it 'kicks' for lol, but in essence, keep to the essentials :lol:

Second of all, I would think that it will take a while, I am sure that you have lots of your own info, but I would definately try to work with Wiz himself(god only knows if he would ever have time, the poor guy) or even a GM/dev. Also, i would post an e mail adress or some new post that you could maybe get *stickied* so that people could submit mob information to you.

Also, I dont know if you plan on charging money for certain cervices or not, I guess that depends on how much the site would cost you, but i would try to stay with the mindset of WR and go as free as you could, maybe again with donations depending on how fast you get a site up and update your info.


All in all I hope you pull through with the idea and I will watch mobs I am slashing through to save info for you if you ever need it ;) Good luck!

I currently have a webserver, still haven't installed php or any db on it but will do when I get the thumb out of my ass.
I have this webserver in my apartment and the line is 10Mbit up and down so there won't be any problem with the server being slow or anything.
 
as I was reading your post I was thinking "wow, you could charge for access to the whole DB and then give the money to WR" .. triggers to see if you're a wr donator? wows.. you think of everything :p

i'll help you out in whatever way I can!
