Wolf Models and nostalgia

Now I am all for remembering the good old days. I played the other game from right after launch, until after LDoN, but man the old school wolf models are just not visually appealing to me at all. From a game play perspective as a druid who uses wolf form a lot, because I like to melee (lets not discuss this again), it is incredibly annoying to me that the old model has NO SIT animation. I know that the old models were put in for nostalgia, but man I think that they are overrated and the newer ones should be loaded up again.
 
Not an official staff view but I wouldnt mind this put into place. Especially with PoEarth coming out in the near future.
 
I agree. The old wolf (and skeletons) models are just out of place in most zones. They are clunky and the animations are ridiculous. I'm all for a change!
 
Someone posted about this before so I'll repeat what I said then.

A long time ago we had new skeleton/wold models and I was all the time talking about how the old models were better.

Then the server changed to the old models.

It was right then that I realized how bad the old models were. Unfortunate to say the least.

(The old skeleton is cool, but the old wolf is horrible)
 
Signin' this. The old wolf model has all kinds of problems, not limited to insufficient animations, clipping errors, and general fugliness.

Aside: is the "new skeleton" just the ldon skeleton? If so, I'd rather leave the old one because we can use the new one whenever we want anyway.
 
I do remember having the newer models in (way back when) and reverting back to the old models, but I forget why exactly that change went in. What was the reasoning anyways? Does anyone recall? It wasn't really just for nostalgic purposes alone... was it? Anywsays, I'd support the idea of newer wolf models going back in. I hate when druids cast their share wolf illusion for reasons already mentioned. Needless to say I immediately click it off. =P

There are two different versions of ldon skeletons, the base one that replaced the one we have now, and the colored crazy ones like we see in Rust.
 
I think it's fine having Necro's and Chanters be the main guys having the newer models but theres quite a bit more dps guys out there wanting to use the sitting function when in wolf form

Then a week later everyone was like, "Shit these old models do indeed suck, I can't tell if I'm sitting or standing anymore."

Is the base one the same basic shape? Blinky eyes, swaying stance animation, etc?

Alternately, is there a picture of it up on allakhazam or somesuch?
 
The only beef I have with those skeletons is that in some zones (catacombs for a great example) it becomes extremely hard to target.

True, one thing the newer models lack (all of them, player, elemental, wolf, skeleton, etc) is a good target box.
 
I too miss the Luclin wolf models.

I too was pretty disappointed when the models were reverted to the old school ones. I think people just wanted them back for nostalgic purposes. And then when they got them, they remembered how much the old models sucked.

It's really, really jarring to see a necromancer in old school skelly form or the druids/rangers in wolf form when you're in a zone with later era models like the various Planes. It's just ugly.
 
I'd use the luclin wolf if it could be used with the old skeleton, but I really hate the new skeletons.

"Old school reasons" doesn't cover the absolute atrocity of bad animations that the luclin skeleton is.
