I've been asked why Traek Jr. is killspawned. Let me explain.
The quest is the culmination of a lot of work of myself and a new dev (Atheon). To be sure, it was an ambitious project, and went through quite a few iterations (as early testers can attest
). Nonetheless, we eventually got it to a place where we thought it was fairly reasonable.
Since its release (to my knowledge) it was only killed by one guild. We got some good feedback from folks about items and difficulty and such, which was helpful. What was NOT helpful was a tinfoil-laden rant about the loot, its designer and, to top it all off, a detailed strat of how to "farm" it. Despite taking it off the forums a few times, it kept cropping up. Word to the wise, if something gets kicked off, don't keep posting it.
The motivation behind it all is irrelevant, but it really pisses me off that, rather than having an intelligent discussion about what in some cases are legitimate concerns, instead there was a petulant attempt to destroy all the work by making it "farmable." Rather than deal with *more* people getting loot that might needs adjusting, I talked to Atheon and decided to killspawn it. This decision is mine, so if you want to yell, yell at me.
What does this all mean?
- We'll be working out some changes to the fight so that it's not just farmable. It is designed to be a challenge. If that mark was missed for the intended tier, as it seems it was, it means it needs a bit of revision
- Drops from the encounter still need some tweaking. Unfortunately we didn't really have a chance to have a ton of meaningful dialogue about this before it got all stupid. When the fight is ready to come back, we can certainly do so.
- People work hard on this stuff. It's not perfect. But be considerate, and try to be constructive. Setting up some grand conspiracy then ruining the event for everyone is NOT helpful.
- If your content gets removed, don't just keep tweaking it and putting it up so we have to take it down. PM us FIRST, let's work it out and find a better way to handle the situation.
- Grudge-posting is something I'm not going to tolerate. You're pissed off at me or someone else, fine. Take it up with Slaar, Wold, jumbers, whomever and handle it like an adult. Deliberately trying to ruin content is not going to end well.
The thread is not open to comments, but if you have any, feel free to reach out to me or other staff directly. I don't enjoy being hostile at all, but c'mon, let's be reasonable, ok?
