So yeah, I'm doing the Vah quest, and I need to assassinate the Spider Queen in Lasanth. I can't just kill her, the room must be un-disturbed for 5 minuts, and then I need to show her the rose, and then I can kill her.

I finally managed to get a timer on her. So I took the day off, as its going to be late at night for me, 3 AM CET by my calculations.

After raid, I port over to Lasanth, and I start my wait.

Along the way my computer over heats. I come back, some guy has shown up, he just wants to exp. Cool. He asks me if I just want the spider area, but nah, its cool, he can exp there too, I might just have to wait 15 minuts longer, once she spawns.

So she spawns, yay. But the Beastlord just cleared the spiders, so I have to wait for full respawn.
Suddently as I am waiting, Sabuti and Eisley just comes charging past me, and runs in and slays the spider. He can cleary see me waiting out side, he runs right past me, and kills it.

I doubt that will be any concequence for him, prove me wrong though, I would love nothing more.

By then I just wanted to camp and get some sleep. If Sabuti wanted a few plats worth of loot, he could have just asked, I would have gladly given it all to him, that was never the point to me being there, I was simply trying to do a quest.
 
It sucks when stuff like this happens, but it is pretty rare. Shot happened on live and happens on the other emu all the time...
 
I would like to see a way for the vah assasinations (and maybe some other quest assasinations) to get a claim rule placed upon them. This sort of situtaion sucks balls, and it is unfortunate that there are players who wont even ask about it and work towards something mutual. It's a dick move and I'm sorry this has happened again on this server.
 
Sadly, I'd have to disagree with you Daffie, every guild member of mine who has gotten to this stage of the quest, has had to deal with this problem on atleast once on one of the five assasinations. And I've heard of it from other guilds as well.
 
Yeah sometimes people do scummy things. The vah quest has been done by a lot of people over the years and some people have it completed on multiple toons so personally i dont think its a problem and that was back with a high population and more competition. But i mean it is 2014 so maybe the quest needs some star version mobs that are harder versions of the normal mobs? Legally nothing can be done but yeah that sucks dude
 
The Vah mob roadblocks do need to be lifted a bit, I have also spent alot of time camping vah mobs just to get it killed in front of my nose. We should have alternate ways of spawning vah mobs which only yields the quest item or turn in, etc. on that part. cant a placeholder* quest version be added like parcelain and mielech that triggers the script when prompted? In this case im sure there was violation of the "dont be a jerk" rule but a /shout "Dude" and one /say " I'm clearly waiting here to do my quest" might not have been enough to enforce it. Send out some /tell as well.
 
Yeah well, I'm just not gonna bother playing on a server, that thinks that this sort of behaviour is fine.
 
There is nothing fine about the behavior, nothing at all. But unless the staff send out a clear message once and for all, that it won't be tolerated, this kind of crap will keep happening. Sadly.

Paxit is correct, these mobs need a * version, that drops nothing but the quest drop. Mob doesn't need an upped difficulty at all, though. That others are allowed to cockblock this way is unacceptable, imo.
 
I'd love to say it's just a bad example; that this behavior isn't tolerated. But the fact is there is zero reason to not be a dick to other people on this server. Nothing happens to them when they are doing this stuff. What used to be punishments became slaps on the wrists then became unenforced announced punishments then they didn't bother at all.

The fact that Vah mos are farmable for cash causes them to be hunted down by players not questing. These guys will gladly fuck you over while you are working to get the correct engage conditions; won't offer to help kill in exchange for the loot. Won't say "oh damn you beat me here" and leave. They will run past you and kill it knowing nothing will ever be done to them while you may be forced to not engage immediately because of the quest requirements.

I'm sorry you're seeing the truth of the server but people like that get away with just about anything they want to do. Unfortunately, if you like questing you have picked the wrong game.
 
That sucks man. Definitely part of why I don't play anymore. Bad apples ruin the whole bunch, etc. That's kinda what happens when your staff swims in both player and GM pools.

My opinion is that most of the server thinks this is NOT fine. Honestly, every emu (even live) has people that do stupid shit. P99 is the only eq emu that is larger and it is literally filled with d bags. My experience here is that SOD generally has the most helpful and considerate player base.

That said, it is goofy that vag quest mobs are farmed down constantly by cash farmers...
 
1) It has happened to nearly everyone I know (in 1 way or another) who has tried to camp the spider in lasanth. Nearly the exact same thing happened to me personally.
2) No, the server recognizes that this is not OK. I'd say only 1% of the server does this crap.
3) The 1% of the server that does this crap seems to have no life and has some godly knowledge of spawn timers as proven by your logs. How did they login at the exact time for a spawn with such a huge spawn window?

GMs for some reason have always ignored this issue, maybe poking it with a 40ft pole but never issuing the appropriate response. To this day, I have no idea why this behavior isn't stopped by GMs. I've seen them extremely quick and appropriate to response by GMs to most actions, but for this, for some reason nothing happens. This lasanth crap is easily the most documented issue that deserves jail/ban that I've witnessed. Just reading this thread makes me relive the nightmare ugh!
 
The most elegant solution would be for * versions, but I've always thought if they made all the loot no drop from assassinations mobs this would solve a ton of problems.

Everything else for the whole quest is great, but fuck the spider, advisor and eternal one.
 
1) Getting those things can be a pain in the butt. SoD is not a single player game and this is like the 1 way that is a bad thing that we put up with in order to have all the good things. You are in a world as real and living as we can make it.

2) I have personally jailed people for being assholes about Sithllithara, so have other GMs, and we have no problem doing it again.

That's all you need to know! Sorry you didn't succeed the first time you tried to do something! Also sorry I was not on when you petitioned! The silver lining to this and I know it's not going to help you now but ask anyone who completed this quest and if they can allow themselves to be honest they will tell you that getting Eternal One or finally nailing Parcelan felt like great victories and not just another plodding inevitable step to another zero-effort MMO goal. When you do get these things, you will feel victorious and you will feel good about yourself in a way that soloing your 100th uncontested Mielech mob looking for a Canopic Jar can never replicate BECAUSE you ACTUALLY HAVE TO TRY in order to succeed and not just roll down a hill long enough for the loot to fall into your lap.
 
To add to Slaariels 2): We need to actually know about people being assholes there. Logs/SS go a long way towards this.
 
If people continue do this obviously there needs to be a harsher punishment than jailing for this offense, or the jailing has not been deemed a big enough offset to what they gain by preventing people from doing quests. I also fail to see how tracking a mob repetitively until you find it up and the stomping it with 6 people is actually having to try, but i guess that is a mindset thing more than a problem with the players.
 
Regardless of what is understood here, I hope you do one day feel that great about a success in SoD or elsewhere.
