What is it like to be jailed? (not a request to be jailed!)

Though I'd never intentionally break a rule just to see what it was like getting jailed, I'm intensely curious as to what it entails.

Has Wiz created a zone specifically for rule breakers? Are there really cells that people get stuck into? Can they communicate in any way with someone through tells or say or whatever? Can you work on skills like sense heading or tailoring and the like? Can someone tell me? I hope there isn't a rule saying that even asking about jail gets you jailed. As far as I saw I'm safe as long as I don't make dumb jokes about it.

It's a cell in the plane of justice. It's not exciting. Most people take one lap around the cell and log off. Some people take a lot more laps and look for some kind of way out.

Wouldn't it be fun if you forced people to wear custom armor with black and white stripes on all visible slots while jailed? And maybe introduce some ground spawns, like a harmonica and an empty metal cup to rattle against the bars...

Then again, entertaining prisonners probably isn't very high on the priority list...

haha it's such a great idea...I heard something about someone being jailed on one of the live servers. so it this a continuation of a live idea?

Man, I wish I had the talent and coolness to be a gamemaster and silently mock people in jail as I walk around invisible.

/sigh the power.....

There are little box rooms that you can't get out of hidden in some zones on live; usually they were for the developers and GMs for various things, a few were easter eggs. Occasionally players found they're way into these boxes and had to be GM'd out. That may be related to what you've heard about.

Anyone ever play The Realm Online way back? I remember getting sent to jail in that game a Number of times. While I was still playing I held the record of time spent in jail. 36 consecutive days... the jail cells had a rat, a table and some chairs in it. You could give the rat Gold coins. :p
Im glad Wiz and the team dont jail people for 36 days. :)

to my knowledge, i dont think you can chat with others in jail. i think they revoke your chatting abilities. not sure htough, never been jailed. although my g/f did get banned from Auction channel for asking for a PC one night. so its prolly something like a zone code. anyways, thats my 2 cents...movein along.

There should be a way to visit people and smuggle in some spoon or so. And make it possible to dig out the way with hmmm say 10 bazillion mouseclicks. The first one who gets out should get a nice title like "Geadenea the Awesome Mousedestroyer". Or something.

OK I'm bored :D

Jail is not a place to have fun, play games, attempt to escape or do anything other then think about why you are in there. Stop suggesting things to make jail more fun or brutal. It's never going to happen.

has anyone played Kyrandia: Malcoms Revenge? from like 1994 or so, when you got put in jail you had to make doilies, that game was so awesome.

Yep! I played through alpha and beta on that game, was pretty fun actually, before it got released and turned into a huge virtual chat room... which is about when I quit.

I remember when me and a few other people were parading around town "naked"... people complained and some GM showed up telling us to put our clothes on. I and a couple others refused, and promptly got sent to jail... where we continued to parade around and "abuse" the local inmates....... and the rat. :)

I think there was only one chair... I remember yelling at people to get out of "my" chair. I also remember getting sent away for a good amount of time once... I forget why... maybe PK'ing and thieving... and I would have people come in and give me cheese to eat :)

Ahhhh memories...

anyone ever get put in the jail on live? I remember the one in erudin had kittens all over the walls <3

those weren't jails... and they werent even in all zones...

they were only really there for technical reasons and i think (but might be wrong) that some zones placed you in them if you happened to fall through the world or something

some GM's did summon players there if they were being bad, but i think only while talking to them... i never heard of a GM actually leaving someone there unattended as some kind of "jail time"...

Some of the private shards on UO have jails where you have to dig for rocks. When you have enough rocks you get let out. Anyone's thats played UO know thats mining's tedious and boring.

EQlive little boxes

Regarding the little box areas on EQlive, I've been in those several times. There was one in qeynos aqueducts that I recall. They are little small boxes with no exit that a GM can summon you into for a talking to. I remember talking personally with the GM-Admin for the Nameless in one of those - he wasn't happy. Once I had a GM freeze my movements and keyboard so I couldn't log out and he summoned over my friend who was running off. That was nifty; it was like "ha gotcha!" GMs will go to great lengths to catch the rulebreakers, and they can be pretty clever. I once had a GM-Admin pose as a normal player as bait to see if I'd bite and I did.

I got lots of platinum in lots of bad ways. Most notably I was a tradescammer - easily one of the biggest eqlive ever saw. The server had a week-long motd warning people against me. I would enter EC and within minutes someone would shout a warning. I could log on and make 10k in 10 minutes (this is before Luclin when 10k was worth a lil bit). Trick was snag something like a FBSS or wotever that is easy to sell so you can push it really quickly. It makes it alot harder to get caught. Well they noticed the trend and the head GM (Admin-GM) of the server posed as a player auctioning a fbss and I bit. Hmm wot else. You used to be able to stand in between people who were obviously trading and go invis - sometimes you'd get someone giving something to someone and you'd get it. People auctioning in-game to sell/trade accounts or items cross server were targets. The trick to not getting caught is transfer the goods to a new char, delete the old char, sell the goods and transfer cash to a new char, and delete the selling char. And then theres ninjalooting. Scour the servers for naggy/vox raids. Start a lvl 1 rogue in neriak/halas and sneak it into the lair once the raid is getting ready to go in. Start auctioning the CoF or wotever before u do it so no one suspects you when outrage erupts. Auctioned the plat/accounts on playerauctions and made thousands. It was immoral and inexcusable, but when you're 15 years old it's fun. Flame time.
