What classes are in high demand?

Hä?! I guess we know why no one plays bards.. they are so broken here! :(
BF already planning to trash his. It's only level 14 and can barely fight anything
anymore

No they are not.

I'd bring up the necromancer's pure versitility when it comes to soloing, however its been awhile since I've played so I'm unsure what they bring to the table post mana-give spell removal(then again thats about the ONLY reason they were asked for on raids, to act as a mana pump for clerics).

Necros are still great in High-End raiding since they have an insane Damageoutput over time.

Besides that it seems to be pointless which class you chose since all are needed in a way.
Just go for what you like, you will always find someone to chill around with you and kill mobs or do whatever you feel like you want to do.

What shortcomings do you see with the bard in SoD? I was thinking about making one.

Puhutes,

Regarding bards and killing power at the lower levels, it's pretty much always been this way, both on SoD and on live. This is mostly due to our song set and our lousy dps. We're acceptable in melee/tanking ability until around level 10 or so, then you really start noticing a difference in the classes. Other classes will begin to tank and melee noticeably better than the bard class. What your boyfriend is experiencing is the start of the bard class. While bards can wear plate and dual wield, a bard is neither a tank nor melee dps.

The songs a bard gets from level 10 to 20 are pretty much a mishmash of utility songs. No real great songs here that help you kill a mob faster. We don't start getting the songs that make us a decent solo class until the late 20's. (I don't consider ae kiting viable on SoD) The levels from 10-27'ish are when our class is the weakest and it's always been that way. There's points you can argue about bards being broke, but the lack of killing power at level 14 isn't one of them.

Their haste spell drives men mad.

And they are usually elves.

Bards are functionally fine and are welcome in groups as long as they do not play their haste song.

If we were going to argue that bards were broke, the first thing that would come to my mind if kiting 8 monsters at a time. I saw a level 20 bard kiting about six yellows and reds around and successfully killing them all. They need a nice nerf stick not a buff!

How can you judge a class on levels 1-14?
I know nothing about bards, I am a paladin. He is comparing to his on live. I guess he would
know what a bard is supposed to be like.

Not on here, he wouldn't. Bards work pretty much exactly like we want them to. :p

hey i was wondering about the bards... i am re-installing the eq now so that i can play this, cuz it seems awesome, so anyways, back to bards..... i was thinking of making a bard on this game because i played one to 27 on EQ live and loved it (back b4 swarm kiting was taken out... actually b4 OOW was out...) so im wondering if the kiting has been taken out here too... and if so, im wondering if they can solo at all anymore =)

well i was thinking of also maybe playing BL again as i had a 65 bl with around 100aa's and i had loads of fun with him... though i wolnt be able to re-make him Vah`Shir(what races can be BL?).. =\ but yea anyways, im wondering if they are similar to the live versions around the OOW expantion time...

Any answers are very appreciated

Thank you,
Wololo (AKA Lilwarder)
