What class to round out the trio?

DumbSnowman

Dalayan Beginner
Hi, my wife is going to start playing soon, and has never played EQ/SoD. I'm currently boxing a shammy/warrior. What would be a good class for her that would be fun but not super hard for a beginner, but still useful for the group? Was considering a ranger or bard but no class really stands out to me.

Necro might be a good choice here. Pretty easy to play and would offer lots of options on where to get xp.

Wizard. Can't get any easier button mashing than that, ports, and you're already pretty set on tank/heals/buffs so just need some dps.

You're at the point where you need to decide DPS or Utility. All the above suggestions are great, but if you're wanting to make it easy on your wife, I'd suggest Monk.

Tip, let her play whatever she wants and not what would be suitable. I started of by playing my hubbys druid wile he played a beast. And omfg I hated it after a wile, just standing there healing wile he did all the fun. So I refused playing his druid and tried out monk and then realized that hell no, I wanted a beast too. And a group with beast+dru+beast isnt ultimate...

But I made one and is stuck since then. When I started boxing I tried to do some real tankage, leveled up a SK and started to gear her but that wasnt me. I wanted more DPS, so I went with a wiz instead to do BIG BANG. (Nowadays our group is bst+wiz and mag+dru)

So well, let her feel the game instead of finding what is suitable for her is my tip :)

(Also, dont get pissed if she starts to play more then you do, it might happen ;))

Dont know what you're talking about,I really enjoy my Cleric after playing Shammy exclusivly
for months.
Requires much less button mashing and leaves a lot of time to chat.
The fun comes from taking mobs down,I couldnt care less who does the damage or who heals, all that counts is the group working efficiently.

This is exactly what Im talking about, ppl like different things. That is why my tip was to let his wife try out whatever class she wants and not a class that is the best setup in group. In my opinion healer is the most boring thing you can play in this game, then tank is second most boring, DPS/utility is where the fun is but luckily far from all ppl agree with me.

(And a group will not work efficiently if ppl dont like the class they are playing nomather what the setup is in the long run.)

Sounds like what happened is that you wanted to play a beastlord, so your husband had to change classes. The real lesson is, the wife is gonna do what she wants, so you are gonna have to choose your class around hers.

Plus, Agiktesse has a big butt.:haw::dance:

True lesson Notty ;)

Agiktesse is female BARBARIAN, they ALL have big asses to match there big boobs and hot body! Jeez you are just jealous....

(The mage was already at level 65 before I started this game, so he had already choosen his main class =P)

Just ask her what she wants;

1) Wants to be a chatterbox - Beastlord
2) Wants to afk follow and sing - Bard
3) Wants to hit 2 buttons repetitively - Rogue
4) "Honey OMG!, did you see that crit!" - Wizard
5) Own everything left, right, and center - Monk
6) to be a gnome wearing leather armor and a huge ogre SK plate helm while skywalking - Enchanter
7) Wants a huge pet - Mage
8) "Gate" a lot - Ranger
9) Hug trees, hug animals, port around with a big f*ng bear, and generally be crunchy - Druid
10) Wants to be the master of "Plan B" - Necromancer
11) "Afk BRB!" ...*tumbleweeds*... - Cleric

hahaha at #4 I could totally see my GF squealing over a big crit

and also squealing when she gets summoned and 1 shotted from a boss b/c she doesn't like to concussion :D

my gf felt a wizard was the most boring thing in the world, it was too simple. Id recommend a necro, a magician or a bard.

necro and magician would both add dps to your mix, both can be quite easy to play but also offer you more than 1 button to press as you get better. dying is one of things that isnt fun as a beginner and being able to fd to avoid death and agro when dpsing would be a good thing for start, and in the end if she becomes good she could split, pull and mez for you as well.

the bard will be useful to your trio by just standing there singing :p aslong as she just goes with one detrimental song it's also quite easy on a beginner.

I'd let her chose but advice her to go for one of these 3. I think the necro might be the best option.

Making an int caster except necro here is a huge mistake. Monk or bard or necro

Fixed that for you.

I run around with shaman bard, and rari plays a necro, and it works pretty well. She cc's/dpses so the bard doesn't have to, and we both get full benefit from the songs.

Gonna have to agree with thade here. When long standing intcasters are telling you its a bad idea to make one....yeah
