Weapon Proc Rate Changes

I personally don't want bane damage to be revisited. I think it is silly having to stack bane on all these different sets of gear. Just raising the atk cap (300?) and maybe giving overcap str/dex a greater effect for melees might be a decent start.
 
Would changing current stat tomes to increase the efficacy of overcap dex/str be more useful than just increasing the soft cap? If doing all 4 ranks increased overcap to the same power as below cap would that be a sufficiently large increase?

Most t13 people barely have 150 worn ATK as it is. If the cap is raised and high end gear isn't adjusted accordingly, t13 people would need to backgear in order to reach the new ATK cap.

Bane damage was already revisited, but when items were changed they were supposed to do 2 things- put some kind of bane on the high end items that lost their old humanoid bane (Dhuro, gloom ear, etc) and also add bane to t13 items since only one item has any and it isn't even a melee item. Neither of those things were ever done. And if we are told the ATK cap is going to be raised and items will have more ATK added at the high end, it seems likely that the ATK wouldn't ever get added because that's how every other change has gone over the last few years.

I don't like the bane system, but if it's here to stay, it should at least be finished. I'm not holding my breath though.
 
Yeah, I'm aware that ATK becomes hard to get. I feel like adding a bunch of ATK to shit is simpler to understand and easier to do than trying to figure out and balance 10 different kinds of bane damage.

Right. The bane system is incomplete and a huge pita to begin with for devs and players alike. Scrap it then replace existing bane and intended bane for atk/crit/str/dex on items to compensate WHILE AT THE SAME TIME making str/dex increases result in parseable increases to dps AND increasing the caps for atk and crit.

Substantially less work, ties into an ongoing project (monks), and simplifies melee dps progression so maybe a meaningful conversation can take place instead of trying to make sense of the mishmash.
